Terrible lag while gaming in the evening

Hi, I have started to experience really bad lag while trying to play the mmo Rift on an evening, to the point where its unplayable. This started about 2 weeks ago. Having asked around, I have found that the only people experiencing this in that game are from the UK and have got Plusnet or BT as their ISP. What can I do about this? I am getting really frustrated that I cant join in any of our guild activity any more. Playing is mainly what I have broadband for!
