Very slow upload speed

Hi All,

I’m on Unlimited Fibre with a Plusnet hub one router (also tested with FritzBox! 3490 and Draytek Vigor 130 + ASUS RT-AC86U) but my upload is poor.

When performing a speed tests with my PC directly connected to the router via Ethernet cable the Download speed is 10 – 12Mbps Upload speed only 0.2 – 0.6 Mbps.

I have rebooted my devices many times and the results have remained the same.

I would be grateful of any advice Smiley

Re: Very slow upload speed

@Purell Welcome to the forums. If you are on an FTTC connection, those figures are dire. Hopefully one of the Help Team will pick this up in the near future, however:

For Community members to be able to help, information from these two sites, as screenshots, posted as pictures within the topic, not as attachments:-

BT Broadband(obscuring your phone number) and BTW Performance Tester - Over a wired (ethernet) connection if at all possible, please report the 'ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTICS', and sight of the broadband connection status from your Hub would be a good starting point.

For the Hub One -

Navigate from the Home Screen to Troubleshooting > Helpdesk

For the Hub Two -

Navigate from the Home Screen to Advanced Settings > Technical Log > Information

It may also be a good idea to report the results of a Quiet Line Test - dial 17070 option 2 from a (preferably corded) phone. After the confirmation of your phone number, there should be total silence apart from the regular 'Quiet Line Test' announcement. Any other noise - report a PHONE fault first.

If phone test is OK then take the front off your telephone master socket, you may need to remove two screws. In behind you will find the test socket. Plug a filter in here and connect that to your hub. If it’s still dropping out then report a fault at https://faults.plus.net.

Re: Very slow upload speed

@Purell Thanks for that information. Looking at them, I suspect you are in a very rural location, with the cabinets a long way from you - the result being, unfortunately that there is very little that can be done about your speeds. Rebooting will also not achieve anything.

An observation (unconnected) on the data contained in the Help Desk picture  your Hub software is out of date - presumably because you have not had it connected ?

Just out of curiosity, how long have you had your current connection?

I have been using Plusnet Hub for few months but for the past two weeks for better wifi speed/coverage I'm using Draytek Vigor 130 + ASUS RT-AC86U.

So, I can't expect anything better in my area?

Thank you

Re: Very slow upload speed

Unfortunately, unless you move house, you are stuck with what you have. If you want to go back to the Draytek/Asus combination for speed/coverage, do so, but unfortunately the physics restrict you.

Until you can get FTTP, or 'Full Fibre' as people seem to want to call it, WYSIWYG, and it appears it will be a while before that is available.
