Re: unlimited fibre extra

@astonman

It sounds very much like you have a problem - most likely not in your home/office environment, but more likely in the BT/OR network.

First thing to check: Is your phoneline clear? Dial 17070 (preferably from a corded phone), select option 2. Once your phone number is confirmed, there should be silence on the line except for the regular 'Quiet Line Test' message - any other noise, report a PHONE problem via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/phone/

If the phone test passes, report a broadband problem via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/broadband/

Let us know the result - if the tests come back as clear but you still have a problem, we need to investigate further.

The above assumes you still have 'normal' landline connection - if you have a SOGEA (internet only) one, just use the second link to report a network issue.

Re: unlimited fibre extra

Many thanks for replies this one gets curious & curiouser 🤷‍♂️. Original speed test on upstairs pc showed 22/18 give or take this is hard wired with TP link mains adaptors. Then hard wired laptop to router (BT HH) ran multiple tests and get different numbers every time sometimes 66/18 immediately followed by 22/12. If I unplug ethernet and go wireless upstairs/downstairs the numbers are where they should be every time 🙄. Either way something going on my side and further investigation required. Quiet test on corded phone was very quiet 🤫.

@astonman

You can never expect to get your full speed using powerline adapters, I loose about 15mpbs download on my pair of  TP-Link TL-PA4010.

Take your hardwired laptop and connect directly to the modem/router device

Re: unlimited fibre extra

I did at first and for a long time after 🤷‍♂️. Not sure of model number but they use mains wiring. But recently dropped off, Even hardwired laptop to router gives very erratic results, Interestingly wireless speeds consistently much higher.
