Transfer .com TLD away from Plusnet

Hello,

I have a domain name registered with Plusnet (or Force 9) that I need to transfer away as I am moving my business location, and my current business broadband service will cease when I move, which means I will lose my domain, along with my website and email address, unless it is transferred before I move. My new location has a Plusnet fibre broadband service, but it is a residential service, and CS tell me that it is not possible to move the registration to my residential service.

The domain is a .com TLD and is currently locked, and I need it unlocked and an EPP authorisation code to enable it to be transferred as a matter of urgency as I am moving in 2 weeks, and 9 times out of 10 when I phone the “business” contact number (0800 028 0282) I end up speaking to somebody in the “residential” team who haven’t a clue what I am talking about and I am just going around in circles and tearing my hair out.

Can anybody please advise me on how to transfer the domain that I have owned for over 20 years away from Plusnet before I lose it?

Re: Transfer .com TLD away from Plusnet

Hi @ppandcopy

Sorry for the issues you’ve had transferring your domain.

Can you private message me the domain name and email address which you’ll want to receive the EPP code to?

If you can make sure the contact email address in your account is the same as the address you’ll PM me, it’ll make things go a little quicker and easier.

You might need to post back here twice more first before you’ll have the permission to send a message.

Re: Transfer .com TLD away from Plusnet

Hi @Gandalf

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly and for your kind offer to help.

As it happens, I managed to speak to a very helpful business CS agent yesterday afternoon who understood what I needed, so he put me through to an equally helpful agent in the technical team who has now requested the domain EPP lock key. He said it will take about 5 days but will let me know when it is done.

Am I able to name these helpful staff members? I believe they deserve a mention after the many frustrating attempts I have had in trying to resolve what was becoming a critical situation.

In case of any hold ups I will see if I am able to PM you the details you asked for.

Thanks again for your offer to help which has gone some way to restoring my confidence in Plusnet.

Re: Transfer .com TLD away from Plusnet

Hi @ppandcopy,

No problem and don't worry if you can't PM me as I've found your account from the details you've put in your forum profile. I'm really sorry again for the difficulties you'd had getting support for your domain.

I'm afraid you can't name staff apart from those of us who work on the Social Media/Forum team, as it's against the forum rules unless you fancy angering the moderators (I'm joking, they're very nice people). I can though see who you spoke with and I'll be happy to pass your feedback on to them and their manager for some recognition. Smiley

I've checked the NetOps task which the agent's raised and they're wanting to know the email address to email the EPP code. Do you want it emailing to the contact email address we have on file in your account (not forum profile)?

Re: Transfer .com TLD away from Plusnet

Hi @Gandalf

Thanks, another impressive speedy and positive response.

Please do pass on my feedback to the managers of the two agents I spoke with as they deserve some recognition.

To explain the situation, I am handling the technical aspects of my brother's business premises move as he doesn't understand what is required or what is involved, though in all honesty I have never carried out a .com TLD domain transfer.

I am an authorised user on his 3 Plusnet accounts and I created the forum profile and posted the question on his behalf, so if it won't affect the domain transfer process it would be better if the EPP code could be emailed to my email address as held on the forum profile so as not to introduce any potential delays, though if it would be easier to email it to the account contact email address he can always forward it on to me.

Thanks again for your continued support, it is very much appreciated by me and my very stressed brother.

Re: Transfer .com TLD away from Plusnet

Hi @ppandcopy,

No problem and sure, could you just reply to the ticket raised Here with your email address? Forum profiles aren't linked to accounts, so I'd ideally need the email address we're sending it to be logged in the account.

If you can let me know here when you've responded, I'll try to make sure things go smoothly for you and your brother.

Re: Transfer .com TLD away from Plusnet

No worries at all, I've passed the info on to NetOps and you should receive an email with instructions on how to get the EPP code within 3 working days. Let us know if you have any issues. Smiley
