Re: 20Mb on Value

nadger,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'll place the order today for you to cap the upstream, it should only take 24 hours and I'll reply back on here again to confirm when it's done.

Re: 20Mb on Value

Cheers Bob & Adam  Smiley
As I've said I'm not complaining about the results I'm getting but would be interesting to see what difference capping the upstream will bring. After all I am 3km from the exchange.

Re: 20Mb on Value

I've got similar attenuation figures to you, Nadger. So, for comparison:
Sync (down/up): 8056 / 808
Attenuation: 39 / 24
Noise margin: 6 / 5
I know I won't get the maximum speeds because of my wiring. Like you, I'm happy with what I'm getting at the moment. I'm on a fixed 'noise margin=6' profile after the DLM trial earlier this year, and I've found that my sync speed varies between 7800 - 8200 down, and 792 - 816 up, depending on the time of day that the resync happens (lower at night). If you're on the standard DLM, you might get a bigger variation, depending on how stable your line is.

Re: 20Mb on Value

FAO nadger,
We seem to be experiencing some issues with the supplier system (ECO plus)  we use to place the type of order you need today. I'll come back to this later and try again, will continue to keep you posted.
Adam.

Re: 20Mb on Value

Thanks for the update, Adam  Smiley
Don't panic as it's not causing me any problems and, overall, the dsl connection seems stable and has reached 30 hours.
I do seem to have lost internet connection a couple of times  - last at about 13.30 hours.
As I rarely upload a higher down speed might be better for the Ofcomm/Samknows trial that I'm part of.

Re: 20Mb on Value

@pierre_pierre Bearing in mind that your increased upstream will slightly reduce your downstream those are excellent figures  Smiley

Mine, albeit a lot slower than yours, has remained stable since it was transferred last Wednesday.

Re: 20Mb on Value

getting there
Download speedachieved during the test was - 6534 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 2000-21000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :16584 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 832 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 13000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 18.55:28.62:52.82 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
PN Profile
Estimated line speed:
    8 - Checked on 2009-08-09 03:31:10
Current line speed:
    7150
Pretty please

Re: 20Mb on Value

You'll really be flying when training period is over.
Just had my upstream capped at 448kbps and will see what effect that has on the downstream.
My IP profile is currently the same as yours but will never get really high as attenuation is 39.5dB at 3Km from exchange.
Overall it looks like the move to 21CN has been worthwhile  Smiley
