Community site maintenance 8th May

We've got planned maintenance on our community servers early tomorrow morning(8th May). This is going to take no more than an hour, it may be during the maintenance window between 5.00am - 6.00am you're unable to access the Community pages for a period of time.
This should hopefully resolve a few issues we've seen recently as mentioned here.
We've posted a service status. Please shout up if you see anything amiss.

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

Did anything happen ?,  I didn't notice anything going on.
If it did, is there a list of what was fixed - so we can start testing those changes ?

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

If maintenance did happen, it didn't fix my issue with the forum servers filling my firewall logs with unsolicited packets  Sad
Attached is my firewall log showing about one minutes worth of junk coming from 'community04.servers.plus.net' -

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

Just for the record,  when I replied above with the attached picture,  the file transferred in about a second,  but the forum then hung for 36 seconds without doing any network traffic from my network, before the post completed.
So the forum posting attachment speed issue is not fixed, and the servers are still chucking out spurious packets  Crazy
I won't bother unpatching my http proxy to bypass forum traffic just yet !  Cry

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

Yeah, it's not looking good  Sad
I was on here for most of the time after about 05:10, nothing was going on during the maintenance hour, and I didn't see any staff online.
I don't think the planned maintenance happened.  Cry

It is now more than a day after the community site maintenance non-event, and no response from the DCT on this topic  Cry

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

Sorry for not replying on this topic before now, this was simply posted as an announcement and not a discussion thread really as there is already an open discussion thread about the problems on Community. We're aware that the work hasn't resulted in a fix of all the issues and will follow this up internally.

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

It would be very interesting to understand just which problems it WAS intended to fix, and how effective the changes were using that list as the criterion.
There was a lot of expectation generated by the announcement and with Kelly as the source

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

I would suggest that replies from #2 onwards are moved to http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,126255.112.html with post #2 edited to include a quote of the announcement. Then this topic locked with a link to the other topic.

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

I'm not convinced about moving parts of this topic, as what was said just states that the maintenance didn't change anything - so would not add any new information to the other thread.
Now that Chris has acknowledged that the maintenance didn't work, this thread will naturally end.
Presumably if further maintenance is attempted, then the DCT will start a new topic (like this one).
It would still be interesting to know (here), what exactly they thought the maintenance would achieve.

Re: Community site maintenance 8th May

The engineers have been trying to work out why it hasn't helped and have some more ideas.  More info as it comes.
