Re: Get your names in quick - YouView Trials

Is this trial solely to test performance of the network/streaming/delivery of content, or also the functionality of the box on a hardware/software level?

It's right at the bottom "TV Trials Application (opens new window)".
Are you on Plusnet Unlimited Fibre?

Re: Get your names in quick - YouView Trials

Is this a sales campaign?
To:-
a) Get people to upgrade to fibre.
b) Persuade people to take out a "free trial"?
Doesn't seem any different to the kind of thing that "Love Film" (and their ilk) would do.

Re: Get your names in quick - YouView Trials

I see that in the T&C's it says that
Quote
47. The service is intended for home use only.
Any content provided as part of the service and any recordings of such content should only
be viewed in the private household or dwelling to which the service is registered. You must not:
a. make unauthorized or unlawful recordings of any content provided via the service; or
b. reproduce any recording made using the set-top box; or
c. re-distribute or re-broadcast any content provided via the service; or
d. display any content in retail, business or commercial premises or for
any business or commercial purpose.

Which seems to imply that it is easily possible to break any Plusnet DRM.  Cheesy

Re: Get your names in quick - YouView Trials

This is a trial we'd like to take part in...
We view TV almost exclusively through our old SD Toppy box, recording & timeshifting the entirety of our viewing (I'm not sure when I last sat through adverts on the TV). Unfortunately, that box is on its last legs now (even having had its PSU capacitors changed), and it is time for an HD upgrade too. A Youview box, alongside an IPTV subscription, is an obvious contender right now - enough that I've started looking at whether to move to BT!
The only problem is that we're still on the older "Fibre Extra" package with 250GB allowance, using between 60 and 100GB per month at the moment. We obviously don't really need to upgrade to "unlimited" unless we get accepted on the trial.
Can we apply for the trial, and upgrade if necessary?
Edit: Applied anyway. We can only get rejected...
Plusnet Customer
Using FTTC since 2011. Currently on 80/20 Unlimited Fibre Extra.

Re: Get your names in quick - YouView Trials

To CX:
Now using my iPad, I saw the link straight away. Pretty sure I didn't see it on my Vista laptop after searching the page several times.
Yes, I am on fibre unlimited "(80/20)".
Just completed the application form.
