The Youview box had a longer boot time than Windows 3.1.

I had a PC with Windows 3.1 with a boot time of around 8 seconds. I remember it had around 8Mb of RAM (yes that's MB not GB lol) and a raid drive.
I remember having 3 similar PC sitting next to each other (back in the days I used to sell PC's for a living) and they had 2Mb, 4Mb and 6Mb ram as standard. Hitting the power button on them a the same time really demonstrated the difference an extra couple of Mb ram would make  Cheesy

I've heard the Humax boxes are better than the ones that are supplied by TalkTalk at least I hope so as the one my father-in-law has is rubbishly slow.

The Humax box is rather slow on a 'cold start' (slow 'boot-up') but fine once running.

I don't think boot times really matter that much, certainly doesn't bother me. My Sky+ HD box takes 2-3 minutes to get going from a cold start. It's an excuse to go make a coffee.

It is if it's 10+ minutes.

None of this is currently relevant to the announcement, save it for if any of us get on the trial..

I have no problems with my TalkTalk boxes (all 5 boot in around 2 1/2 minutes from cold and tick along nicely once up and running)l, I guess I'm lucky Wink
