Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

I thought when you had a contract, the costs stayed the same for the duration of the contract.
Is this a normal business practice to sign you up to a deal and then change the prices Sad

Hi Mitten,
I'm sorry to see that you are clearly disappointed.
If we make a "detrimental change" to our terms, we need to give you 28 days notice.  During this time you can cancel your service by moving to another supplier free of charge.
We don't like doing this sort of thing, but unfortunately an increase on costs has forced our hand.

Unfortunately because you have a contract they can still put up prices as I have found out when Orange raised my contract by 3%, it seems that they can do it because it's in the terms and conditions

Except with PN they allow you to get out, Orange and T-Mobile didn't.

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

To add a little to what James said. If you were on a minimum term contract for fibre which is a 18 month term and the price of fibre was increased you could leave without having to pay for the remainder of the 18 months.
What I'm not clear about is if you were on a fibre and telephone contract (having joined Plusnet on joint phone and broadband), would the telephone price increase allow you out of the fibre contract?

Only if the contract says that they will.

No.

I understand that Chris but there is nothing on my account that says that I have now paid up until the end of 2013. Just looking for some personal confirmation, that’s all  Smiley

You can consider this personal confirmation (it's from our CRM systems) Smiley

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

Only just received my email this afternoon so this is the first I have heard of this increase as I have been too busy moving house to check the forums recently.    I can't understand the delay in notifying me when others have received the email at least a week ago.
Having quickly read through the thread it seems, as an existing Line Rental Saver customer, I can still obtain the line rental at this year's rate of £113.88 if I pay before October 28th.      My renewal date is December 21st.  Am I correct in this assumption?

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

Thanks James.  I was going to to renew immediately but if you say I can still pay after October 21st and before October 28th to receive the current rate, that's what I'll do.  Thanks again.

@anniesboy:
Thanks, I see Oldjims post where it says that, but if I can wait until October 21st, which is two months before my current line rental saver expires I may as well wait until then if I can still pay £113.88.

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

It's interesting.  Back in February I was reading that BT was lowering the price of what it charged for other companies to use it's lines.  The article stated that consumers should see a drop in prices, perhaps even a mini price war by April.  Bearing in mind Plusnet's connections with BT I'm wondering A: Why we haven't seen a drop in price at all and B: As Plusnet is part of BT whether we are (perhaps)  paying for everyone else to have a price cut?
Ofcom forced BT to drop it's price - Has or has that not been passed onto the customer?

Have you any evidence that Plusnet's Home Phone prices are higher than their major competitors.

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

Well just received my email from Plusnet regarding prices going up.. And to me it seems your all like sheep.
One puts the price up and you all follow. Theirs no competition in the market anymore for phoneline rental.
At the moment Plusnet are reminding me of the power providers, they are like sheep aswell.
Why wont Plusnet or anyone in this country do naked DSL?
