Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

What a wonderful  ISP
Currrently on 40/2 (soon to be 40/10) Fibre extra product at £21.49/ month, not a trial member nor do I have phone with PN.
If I upgrade to the new Fibre extra 80/20 am I correct on the following:
As existing fibre customer I will not be subject to £25 insstall charge?
I have to start new 18 months contract?
my 120GB limit will be raised to £250?
I continue to get Plusnet Protect at no extra cost?
There will be no engineer visit needed and no router / modem change needed?
I am currently getting very reliable & stable 37Mb service and would not wish to jeopardise this stability, the predictor says I will not get a significant improvement in speed and to be honest, it is as fast as my household needs.
But, I would like to take advantage of the higher monthly data cap and the saving of £1.50 / month.
Why shouldn't I i ugrade?
Wouldn't it be easier for plus net just to raise the cap & reduce the price of my existing pack?
I would be really upset if my stability is damaged!
Lots of questions, but I want to be sure before I start new contract.
Thanks

If you are very near the limit for maximum speed on 40/2 I have seen some reports of download speeds suffering slightly when moving to 80/20 at the expense of the increased upload speed. Whether this might also be the case when moving to 40/10 I don't know.

Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

I was on 40/2 and got on average 39/1.7 now since I moved to the new 80/20 am getting 68/11, am waiting to see if this improves. Would rather have had a greater download than lose this at the expense of the upload speed

Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

For nothing more than to give people information,
When I was on 40/2 I got just over 37meg, on the trial I got 75-77meg, plusnet estimates my speed to be 64.5 iirc which is way off, and on the full new product I am getting the same speeds I got on the trial.

You can't actually get a download speed of 39Mbps on 40/2 so you were doing very well! IME it is unlikely to improve, more likely to go down. What was your estimate?

Just set your maximum extra spend to zero then you know it can't happen.

Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

Was supposed to be switched to the faster fibre broadband on Monday - still getting EXACTLY the same speed as Sunday. Plusnet support seem to think everything should be working but it isn't and don't seem to a) either believe me b)  get it sorted. It's like somebody forgot to flick a switch \ press a button \basically TURN IT ON somewhere  Roll_eyes

Always possible that order hasn't completed properly, in the meantime have you rebooted modem and router and have you checked your BT IP profile?

Just found an odd ticket in my account regarding the upgrade to the 250GB usage allowance though i did change product to the new one and did'nt get confirmation but i just found this ticket hidden Service Notice #139861496< Back
Service Notification
3:17pm, Wednesday 15 Aug 2012
An update report has been received for this account
The broadband order is being processed by the supplier.
The activation will complete by midnight on 22/08/2012.  So does this mean my usage allowance will be upgraded by midnight on the 22/08/2012 or am just reading this wrong ?

Just a quick update to confirm my usage allowance has now increased from 120GB To 250GB as of this morning  though it should'nt of changed untill next billing date.

It seems they are all doing this.
Mine changed to 250GB on the 20th but my billing date is the 11th next month.
Not complaining mind. Appears it changes approx a week after upgrade.

Have you looked at your closed tickets?
Something along the lines of supplier upograde and a date. Well, that's what mine said anyway.

Nope.

I wasn't sure which way to read this so just to be clear - you *won't* be charged an installation fee.

You're free to make the most of your new allowance. VMBU will confirm this.

This is due to a known problem (ref: 72437). It will happen where you see an internal ticket raised on your account that reads as follows after you've requested the upgrade:
 [INTERNAL]
This account cannot be provisioned on 21CN as the BBEU number has not been set.
Please update the BBEU number on this account and complete the account change.

Looks to me like you're still provisioned on the 40/2 service. Leave it with me and I'll get that sorted for you ...
