Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

Hello - I have been upgraded by Plusnet to the new Extra Fibre 80/20 with 250GB allowance and have received an email confirming this.  However my speeds are still exactly the same as before, i.e. 37 Mbps down and 1.6 Mbps up.  I cannot use the BT speed checker as it doesn't seem to work on my Mac in any browser nowadays, but I have used Plusnet's speed checker and also Speedtest.net. which both give the same result.  According to Plusnet I should be getting speeds of around 55 Mbps down and hopefully a much swifter upload speed - it is the upload speed and extra GB allowance that I have really upgraded for.
I have disconnected the BT modem, my router and shut down my Mac, and turned them back on in the order suggested by Plusnet but still my speeds remain the same as before.  Is it possible for a member of staff to look into this?  Do BT have to physically throw a switch somewhere i.e. are they the holdup and not Plusnet?
Thank you for any help, appreciated.

Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

@chartford
That's due to the timings of the upgrade request. You requested the upgrade yesterday, and the account change is scheduled for your next billing date (today), however the order to change the speed of your line takes 5 working days to complete so that will be early next week.

Great, thanks Chris! Thought it must be something like that, but just wanted to check.  Thanks for the swift response.

Now been told I've got to wait for 23rd even though was supposed to switched on the 20th according to everyone I spoke to! What a waste of time running speed tests and hanging on the phone for support.  Angry

It should actually complete tomorrow Ian as per the information here. Your situation is slightly different though. You requested the account change on the 15th and your billing date was the 20th. This meant that your account changed before the modify order had chance to complete.
I'm going to have a word with the advisors you spoke to who didn't spot this when you called :mand:

Thanks - it's been switched on today 3 days later than originally stated but 1 day earlier than stated yesterday!  Grin

Head's up that this should have changed as of this afternoon (ref: 72398). Whilst the order to change speed will still be placed when the upgrade is requested. It will no longer complete until the date of your account change/next billing date. That's for all upgrades requested *hereafter*, not any that are already in flight.
I've changed the Community FAQ so that instead of:
[quote author="Community FAQ"]If I switch to the new Extra Fibre product when will my account change take place?
We’ll place the order to increase your speeds immediately. This takes up to five working days to complete. Your account change won’t take place until your next billing date though so be careful not to gobble up all of your usage before then!
The relevant question now reads:
[quote author="Community FAQ"]If I switch to the new Extra Fibre product when will my account change take place?
We’ll place the order to increase your speeds immediately but this and your account change won't complete until your next billing date.

Bob,
don't you need to add something about the minimum time for the change to complete?

Done:
[quote author="Community Site FAQ"]If I switch to the new Extra Fibre product when will my account change take place?
We’ll place the order to increase your speeds immediately but this and your account change won't complete until your next billing date. If your billing date falls within 48 hours of your upgrade request then please be mindful that the order to increase your speed takes at least one working day to complete.

Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

Hi,
I notice a lot of activity in this thread by Plusnet staff.  A bit of a gripe during the trial was that although the staff were good they didn't seem to have the time to be available on the forum.
Well done to the people concerned! - Hopefully I won't have to post much  Wink I'm due to switch from "old extra" to "new extra" in the next 7 days...

Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

I opted to have the optional router as a backup device when i placed my order. I have now been on the new tariff over a week and no sign of the router.
When i look in starter pack via connection settings it says that the order for the router has not been placed yet.
Could someone have a look for me please and see what the problem is?

I've just looked and for some reason the order hasn't submitted, I've placed it manually now for you so that should be with you in a day or so. We're also checking to see if anyone else if affected.

Re: Launch of new Plusnet Fibre Products - 80/20 and 250GB usage allowance

Is there some sort of re-learning or settling time needed after switching from 40/10 to 80/20?
My connection used to get around 35Mbs quite consistently, but since I've upgraded to 80/20 the Thinkbroadband speed test bounces between 5Mps and 25Mbps during the test and then gives a result of around 15Mbps  Cry
