At any given moment in the universe many things happen. Coincidence is a matter of how close these events are in space, time and relationship.
Opinions expressed in forum posts are those of the poster, others may have different views.

I could happily accept a lower limit than 10 hours, or with a bit of persuasion to accept a 'no edit after the post is replied to'
In practice I usually trap my errors in the Preview phase and rarely have to edit post posting. Ouch! Nasty tautology.
There are a few rational errors that should need to be amended though?
E.g. An inadvertent significant factual error in a price or T&C; Much easier to correct in the earliest possible post to avoid perpetuating the problem.
Anything that helps avoid the chaos caused by thread deletion / change needs to be supported.

A number of posts have been removed.
Quote from: Oldjim Please note - judging by the previous thread on this there is a possibility of this developing into a tit for tat exchange. As such any such posts will be removed.
Please keep the discussion specific to the question in the poll

With the one week option, this would get round the thread Title altering to make an old thread seem current, and longer by promoting new posts, raising viewing figures, as has been done before a few times.
I would like to see a block on others quoting whilst Modifying a post, for whatever reason, mainly spelling.

If only Preview was WYSIWYG.
Preview doesn't show images, nor multi quotes formatting as they would be displayed, which sometimes look a mess until cleaned up.

Taking these specific points
Quote from: PlusComUK I would like to see a block on others quoting whilst Modifying a post, for whatever reason, mainly spelling.
<snip>

There is no facility within the forum software for locking a post or stopping others quoting it while editing.
Preview on Firefox under Win 7 shows all mutiquote formatting and images which are links as you would see them in the final post but not those where they are uploaded. However going by the number of times we have to fix formatting of quotes I wonder if some other browsers don't do it properly
With respect to showing images which have been uploaded I post on several other forums and it isn't an option unless the image is uploaded then added to the post.
A much more serious (well it is to me) point is why this forum and no other that I use is so abysmally slow and unreliable for uploading files but that is a subject for another thread

Can you start / resurrect a thread on this for me and start putting your experiences in? I'll get it picked back up.

Another forum I visit introduced this rule a couple of years ago and went with the 1 hour limit.
Once you get used to it; it isn't really a problem.

I'm currently on a different forum that offers the edit ability only when there has been no posts in the thread after yours. If there's a post after yours, you simply can't edit it. However, I don't think that option works fairly, simply because posts can come thick and fast within seconds of each other, allowing basically no time at all for an edit. I voted for 12 hours. I would say 12 hours is fair, 24 hours maximum.
(Yes, I had to edit this post. Ironic isn't it)

http://www.electro-tech-online.com/threads/is-this-non-isolated-mains-led-bulb-illegal.139027/
A lot was said in these threads that was relevant and potentially slanderous but having gone through and edited a lot of them, information is now missing and there is no guarantee that any of the answers are relevant to the previous posts.
I'm not saying that this would be the case with all of the posters on this forum but it does make a point.
