So where is my missing 430Mbps gone ?
It's not my modem's problem - as that is synced at max values (as it always is)

Not sure.  Stay on that gateway and see if it returns tomorrow morning?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@Kelly - OK, I'll test again in the morning.
While it's quiet for the moment,  what is your opinion on my question here - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,111170.msg968147.html#msg968147  ?
It is annoying that I had interleaving switched off days before, reducing my latency by about 22ms, only to have whatever happened adding 10ms back on again !

Re: Peak time latency spikes

hmmm.  We had a gateway fail around that time.  If you were on it, you've had reconnected to a different one.  I presume you haven't seen a jump since you reconnected this evening have you?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

No, my best latency ever since has been 28 or 29ms, even with all the gateway jumping that has been going on.
Presumably if I had been on the failed gateway, then I would have seen a CHAP session starting around that time - but there was nothing !

PCL peeps:  Still seeming to be a lot better than usual?

Yes things seem better but, whilst normal ping and speedtests seem fine,  this still doesn't seem as clever as it should be

and I'm not too happy with BBC1 Live streaming, but this could be the Beeb (it's wiresharking OK) - occasional blocking/blurring/video jumps once or twice sound out of sync, although it's better now than it was 15 minutes ago.
purleigh's question about latency is an interesting one, because I'd been intending to ask at some point, what changes were made to pcl-ag04 about 5 weeks ago. Previous to that roughly, I'd been on pcl-ag04 for sometime and it was a good gateway for me, I could get pings of 32/33ms regularly. The last few days I've been on it until it broke this morning, the best I'd been able to get is 36/37ms.

Latest results I have from my whitebox on pcl-ag06
Average (Mbps)
22:00 46.09
20:00 50.29
19:00 32.24
18:00 50.41
14:00 50.46
08:00 50.70
Rather different than the usual, certainly! What happened around 19:00?

Ok last night was allot better I could live with those speeds if you guys at PN can maintain them they are similar to what I was getting before the problems started around 23th Feb.
Results from SamKnow box on gateway plc-ag01
Downstream Throughput

Date 14.3.2013

Average (Mbps)
0.4.00    51.62  This morning 15th feb
00.00      51.09
22:00 43.43
20:00 53.20
18:00 52.01
16:00 51.50
10:00 51.43
0.4.00    51.43  Yesterday 14th Feb
There was a small dip around 22.00 but nowhere near the ones I've been experiencing they have been going down to under 10Mbps
Still on same gateway atm will check tonight to see what results I get

Re: Peak time latency spikes

PCL-ag04 last night was fine - the first night since joining PN about a month ago without the expected peak time latency peaks / slowdowns.  Well done PN and hope it continues!
(Ignore the red in the Tbb graph - I had to move furniture around which involved disconnection etc......

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Good morning Rookey.........    I could give a blow by blow account of my furniture moving activities but I think I will stick to the matter in hand - the much improved quality of my PN fibre connection!  Roll_eyes
Tell me, are you as content this morning as I am or are you suffering your usual slowdowns etc?

Dropping from 6.9Mb to 6.7Mb really isn't a huge drop and isn't a significant change. I'm sorry to say but that's well within the acceptable range of speeds for a broadband service.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

On the subject of mybroadbandspeed.co.uk when is that going to be fixed? (that's probably where purleigh's 430 kbps have gone). I don't know what Plusnet have done with the 430Mbps, they certainly haven't given it to me  Wink
