Re: Peak time latency spikes

We watched several hours of catch-up TV last night on iPlayer and 4OD. No problems at all on ptw-ag04.

Asus N56

Could be your router I had an Asus N56U and it was very intermittent re connections/speed, router looked as if it never dropped connection but PN confirmed it was, after a few calls to Asus Tech support they confirmed the router was faulty so I returned it to Amazon. That was before Christmas and I started using th PN router again which cured both problems until the 23rd Feb when the speed problems we have been having started. Just a thought I maybe wrong re the router but worth ruling out.
I was out last night so can't report any speed issues, but whitebox showing speeds OK with a slight dip in speed about 10pm (only a couple of Mbps down so no real issues)
Re BT wholesale testers I was getting problems with that yesterday even though Speedtest/thinkbroadband where reporting speed OK as was Pingtest so putting that down to BT having a bad session as it back OK this morning.
Gateway on ptn-ag01  and just watched iPlayer on TV with no problems

Re: Peak time latency spikes

A perfect peak-time last night on ptn-ag01 with no sign of latency / slowdown...  Looks like the work this week is paying dividends?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@ bjn
I was thinking about the router, but it's a bit strange that at peak times englishrick's speed slows down dramatically and then return to normal (or near normal) afterwards. Router faults tend to be consistent and I don't think there are any reported serious bugs like speed loss with the N56U.
The TBB graph looks pretty good which adds to the mystery but I guess tonight's peak time will be useful info.

@AndyH
Re the router problem I had with Asus N56u was intermittent, could be englishrick problem at peak time then back to normal is more prominent as this is when he's doing speed tests more often then any of us would normally do. If you are just doing normal surfing the net you would never have known. The problem showed up with large data downloads and video streaming and as most of the time I was surfing web pages that's what had the Asus guys perplexed.
Just a though and I maybe totally wrong but something to rule out?
Speed wise today I'm OK on ptn-ag01

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Not quite sure what has happened here but the gateway seems to have crumbled:
ptn-ag01

But speedtest looks ok, as does pingtest (more or less):

Weird...

Re: Peak time latency spikes

That might explain something...there was someone else on here with speed issues on a daisy-chained exchange

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I am only going off what O2 said to me when we were with them a few years back and a problem occured with myself and some friends, their status page said problem with Alsager/Kidsgrove exchange so as you say maybe daisy chained....still not much use to me though..

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Just looked at the exchange status on usertools and it looks like my area code 01270 is affected by degradation
