In the drop-downs for vanilla Value and Extra packages, the peak hours are described as 4PM-Midnight and 6PM-Midnight respectively (with "peak" used to indicate more aggresive traffic management, rather than the older meaning of "free" usage).
However, the Fibre dropdowns have peak hours described as being 4PM-Midnight for both. But on the Speeds page, there is no special cut-off at 4PM. I guess you'd want to describe the cut-off as 6PM, but there is a case for saying that peak starts at 7AM!
Using FTTC since 2011. Currently on 80/20 Unlimited Fibre Extra.

Quote from: glloyd I wonder if you are connected directly to the exchange and not via the local cabinet. I have that problem so don't know what will happen when we get FTTC in December.
Quote from: oldgeezer According to BT and Plusnets availability checkers I can't get FTTC. However our FTTC cabinet was installed months ago and if you listen to it you can hear cooling fans spinning away. Is this another case of BT's database being months out of date ? According to a website that reckons to show achieved speeds against a local map I have got neighbours getting FTTC speeds.
oldgeezer.
It's a possibility but unlikely as I'm situated about 3 Km from the exchange and about 150 metres from the cabinet.

That way, everyone effectively sits a few hundred metres from the exchange and gets a 20Mbps connection.
No fancy VHDSL etc...
You know it makes sense.

But they are indeed doing FTTC & ADSL2+, not VDSL2.
I guess there's an advantage in doing this too - there would be no need for power-shaping of the cabinet-generated signals, as there would be no exchange signals to contend with. Oh - except I guess there would be for those with LLU kit.
Using FTTC since 2011. Currently on 80/20 Unlimited Fibre Extra.

Did notice that Plusnet have updated and improved their traffic management but will the PUG site be reflecting this? Was just looking at Extra for the comparison.

Quote from: gm4jjj For the sake of clarity, I am on FTTC Pro as a trialist and now presume that my only other options if I want to retain Fibre are to go to Fibre Value or Fibre Extra and either can have Pro added.
David, you can stay as you are and retain fibre, but if you want to change package then yes you would need to take out a fibre package. Then add Pro if you want.
You don't have to stay with Fibre products as a triallist but can select non-fibre Extra and Value - in effect running a Fibre connection but on the 60GB package restrictions (for Extra). I am considering Extra with the possibility of adding Pro to it for info.

Quote from: Mand Yup, but once you add the add-on it's an immediate change rather than a scheduled one.
Not true.
See this topic for my experience of adding the Pro add-on to my account. Take note particularly of reply #2 which describes the steps by which I eventually got the Pro add-on to take affect on my account.
For anyone without the option of different logins I suspect that they could try using the bt test login for a couple of minutes and then switch back to their normal login which may have the same affect, or just power their router down for a period (about half an hour).

Looks like you hit one or two busy endpoints last night. Different realms won't have made a difference, but reconnecting will have.
