Quote Still awaiting that email guys... Found out courtesy of ThinkBroadband.com
We're sending the emails in batchs over the next few weeks, they should all be sent by the end of August.
Bob's going to come and reply to any outstanding questions that we've not picked up yet.

Quote from: Cagney1994 I'm on the Unlimited package at £12.49 a month (non-fibre and BB only).
Will I be seeing a price increase ?
Your monthly subscription costs will remain the same.
Quote from: JamesM I took out my unlimited BB before mid June and I have talk anytime, so if I understand correctly, my bill will increase by £1.50, for the phone side of things, and no increase for the BB .
Yes, that's right. An extra £1 for the line rental and an extra 50p for the Anytime call package.
If you want to avoid the line rental price increase then you could take out a Line Rental Saver contract? If you do this before October 1st then it will only cost you £125.88 (10.49/mnth).
Quote from: purleigh Can this two month advanced notice set a precedence for the future, so that forum members and existing customers always get two months warning about changes to terms, conditions, and pricing ?.
Not everyone will get two months. As Chris has mentioned, we've a *lot* of emails to send and it's going to take us most of this month.
Quote from: purleigh If I had been aware of imminent price changes, then I could have encouraged my friends to change product immediately and they would all have been happy.
Point taken, however the 'solus' pricing that was intorduced in June isn't really something we'd have emailed existing customers about. It affected very few people and applied more to a new customer signing up (although I accept your point about referrals). We should probably have posted an announcement in the forums a little earlier but bear in mind there are commercial reasons why we can't always disclose changes too far ahead of us adopting them.
Quote from: BryanP I'm eagerly awaiting my e mail to notify me of the changes and then it's goodbye and I would not be surprised if I am one of a few
You have Line Rental Saver and I reckon you'll have the opportunity to renew it at the current price too before it expires. Based on that reasoning, the price change shouldn't really affect you that significantly for at least another year or so
Quote from: materialman I signed up last week to unlimited (activation due 8/8/13) and home phone from o2 and BT resp. Beginning to wish I hadn't reading all this. Still. I guess (hope), having only just contracted, the prices I signed up for (£9.99-£5/m for a year and £14.50/m LR) will remain for that year?
Your monthly subscription costs aren't changing.
Quote from: Thunderclap Why exactly is this 'surcharge' of £1.50 [per month +vat?] being introduced?
We make negligible amounts of money from entry-level broadband subscriptions so I guess it is a bit of an incentive to bring your landline service to us as well. We're investing heavily in our network and product offerings for the future as well as opening a new office in Leeds. Whilst nobody likes this sort of thing, it does help us cement some of the stuff we have in the pipeline.
Quote from: Thunderclap Does PlusNet have to pay extra costs for using the copper of other networks and deem it necessary to pass its costs onto their customers, at cost?
I don't really understand the question? If you're talking about the wholesale cost of broadband provision then there hasn't been a significant increase in that area of late.

I had the opportunity to ask for a half price discount for the remainder of my contract, but because of how hard the faults guys were working for me, I felt they made a strong case for me to happily pay the full wack.
The problem was finally resolved last week.
I haven't asked for any compensation for loss of service as is my right due to the excellent work Chris Petitt has done on my behalf.
So as a thanks for my loyalty and despite being under contract still, I receive an email this morning telling me my price is going up, my notice to leave period is extended, and my fee to cancel is raised.
And to rub salf in the wound it is reported in this thread that part of the reason is so Plusnet can build a new office!
Has Plusnet never heard of living within it's means?
I have done nothing but praise PN on these forums lately... what a mug!

I'm not sure how the team can be expected to retain any customers if they don't know about changes being made to pricing and terms and conditions. Maybe it would have been an idea to let them know?
As for downgrading from fibre to ADSL - well, that seems to have everyone confused!

Quote from: Bob
Quote from: I This suggests that you can charge for deferred cost ( like hardware etc) if leaving due to a material disadvantage, surely that is not correct?
Quote 47. If we have made a change which is to your material disadvantage, you will not have to pay a charge (excludes any charges or payments we have deferred) if you decide to end your agreement early, unless the price guide says otherwise. However, once we have told you about such a change, you must let us know that you want to end the agreement within 10 days.
I'll double check but in the past we've charged for deferred costs when we've done this sort of thing. Having said that, most people actually have true 'profit foregone' contracts now rather than deferred charges.
Hi Bob was you able to check this?
Regards
Mike

Are you saying this surcharge is therefore an incentive to force customers to leave BT [and others]?

PlusNet is owned by BT!
It's a cabal and like ALL the other "service" providers try to confuse us "customers" with arcane, confusing and stupid "deals" and crap accountancy practices.
PIP PIP
Have a nice weekend

Are PN aware that members like myself are locked into a BT phone contract ( in my case until Dec) so we cant leave as BT will finacially penalise us.
So where is the "Customer Care" that we hear so much about in their adverts etc
Always had 100% excellent service from PN, but I would have thought it could look after its vintage customers.
Obviously not, so by October it will be farewell.

After a while, you could do a reverse transfer to Plusnet for another special deal... etc
