Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

I've just checked out TalkTalk and they are increasing their annual line rental to £126.  So, £11 for the benefit of having homegrown support - possibly worth it.  Can't work out what their equivalent to Anytime International but I don't suppose there's much  in it.  I'll see what TT have to offer in a couple of months though.
Come on PN - give your existing customers a decent incentive to stay with you Wink

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

Given the increase in Anytime Phone package what is the situation for me
I am on LRS which includes evenings and weekends plus Anytime whereas the new LRS doesn't include any calls
When I renew my LRS a couple of days before October 1st does that include Evenings and Weekends as the new LRS doesn't include any calls at all
The reason for asking is because if I decided to drop the Anytime Package will I revert to Evenings and Weekends or to no calls at all after October 1st

See Bob's reply #21
" If you chose to *renew* your [LRS] contract after 8th May 2013 then you retain the evening and weekend calls. If you take Line Rental Saver *for the first time* after 8th May 2013 then the calls aren't included."

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

That's not 100% true. If you take Line Rental Saver after October 1st and are paying £14.99 for your line rental then you'll get the Evening & Weekend calls I believe.
If you take Line Rental Saver after October 1st and are paying £14.50 for your line rental then you'll not get any inclusive calls.

Even the staff only have "beliefs" when it comes to these price increases!  Cheesy

Why is there 2 line rental prices and who pays the extra 49p?

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

Re: the “New Prices” - seems the more I think about them - the less I think about them.  I’m confused.com at the best of times - now I’m definitely confused.com all the time!
I‘m continuing with my membership “as is” - primarily because of the excellent staff at Technical Support - at least I can understand them - and I’ve appreciated the help
!  I pay my line rental yearly, and I’ve recently transferred back to “Evening & Weekend Calls” - will I still get those as part of the deal?  If not, I will have to seriously look at going elsewhere.

I think they make these announcements as complicated as possible so nobody understands them.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

i am not happy with these changes - the price increases, the surcharges which are 'criminal' etc

i suggest 'we' ALL contact Ofcom  and report it because no matter who is responsible for justifying and implementing these changes (be it PN driven, wholesale driven, across the board) they are simply unacceptable profit-making/increasing schemes..........and at time when the Government are calling for tightening of purse strings due to the economic climate.

really, if you do not think this is a scandalous situation, then i despair.
please, SHOUT at Ofcom -  something is not right here.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

I rather think there is little OFCOM can do, it's up to customers to either accept or leave. It's beginning to be bit of a cartel, one puts their price up and others follow that's what needs investigating.

@glloyd
'cartel'...that is one reason why you should contact Ofcom...they might have cause to at least investigate if enough shouted!    I'm not having a go at you, but being seemingly negative about Ofcom (whether its reality or not) further reduces the effectiveness of those bodies especially if no one lets them know!  Jumping ship is one form of protest, but (if the alternatives have equally or worse effects) is not always the answer.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

what got me is bt openreach cut the wholesale price and suddenly  the line rental price went up.if anyone is on certain benefits bt basic can be had for £14.95 a quarter with £4.50 worth of calls inclusive.my bill has just come to £15.02 with calls for the quarter.plusnet basic on top, unusually the internet is more then the line rental.
its good value if you dont use the phone much and are eligible,at that price the bills paid before the paper bill lands, which shows high prices just drives people away.

After October 1st there will be two groups of customers paying monthly for their line rental. Those paying £14.99 will have Evenings & Weekend calls included. Those paying £14.50 only get inclusive weekend calls (unless paying extra for a calling package).

You'll still get the inclusive calls.

On the contrary I think the tailored emails we're sending make things quite clear (with the exception of some of the wording in an early batch). If anybody's trying to make sense of things before they've received their email though, then I can understand why they might be confused.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

Have Plusnet carried out a cost-benefit analysis on this complex price increases?
I used to have the impression that Plusnet never increased their broadband prices.
I no longer have that impression.
As an ISP, they are no different from any other ISP.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

I was all set to cancel with PlusNet at the end of July due to cost, but was persuaded to re-sign an 18 month contract with a more competitive phone & BB package, coupled with reassurances of the PlusNet customer service levels when compared to the competition. Within 10 days I have an email advising of proposed price increases!  This completely negates all the work done at the end of July. CS staff are full of sympathy but are unable to assist. Luckily I was still in the cooling off period and therefore not contractually bound. I have now cancelled the contract. With this level of customer service, I might aswell take my chances and save some money elsewhere.
