Unless you are on the product listed as changed then they will not offer a free "out". E.g. if you are on Unlimited then you don't get out free.
I am not on the BB's changed but my phone will be going up, but since I am in a LRS to Oct it doesn't mean anything to me, but come Oct I will be moving my phone.

I was under the assumption every could leave for free ( if their cease fee is currently £25 ) due to this;

We'll also be changing the cessation fee we charge if you decide to disconnect your contracted Plusnet broadband service without moving to another provider. This charge will increase from £25 to £30 - if you leave under these circumstances, you will see this charge as a one off cost of your final Plusnet bill.

(my bold)
To me that is a material disadvantage of the original contract agreed
That bottom of that email also says

If, as a result of the changes in this email, you decide to terminate your affected service(s), you may do so without incurring the Early Termination Charge(s) that may otherwise be payable. If you wish to exercise this right you must contact us within 10 days of receiving this notification. You will still be liable for service charges up to the date of termination.

Can PN please clarify if an increase from £ 25 to £ 30 is a material disadvantage, as the email footer above suggests it is?

Mike

SO I cancelled stating that I have done so because I do not agree to the changes in contract, get my MAC key and shock horror they try to bill me for the remainder of the time on the contract anyway.
- Deferred Hardware - Technicolor TG582n Fibre Router £163;40.00
- Plusnet Extra Fibre Profit Foregone Contract (18 months)
£163;49.50
- Deferred FTTC (with WLR) activation contract for 12 months
£163;25.00<br/>
- Broadband service charge for 2 days £163;1.33
So I have to pay 4 x £163 for cancelling.... WHAT?

Quote from: inhost
They updated the ticket, the charges are:
- Deferred Hardware - Technicolor TG582n Fibre Router £40.00
- Plusnet Extra Fibre Profit Foregone Contract (18 months) £49.50
- Deferred FTTC (with WLR) activation contract for 12 months £25.00
- Broadband service charge for 2 days £1.33
Of course I reject them all except the service fee as per the agreement plusnet made by email.

I don't think they need to as "the law" will decide and commonsense says it is.
Not to mention that just 10 days to respond is MOST DEFINITELY an unfair contract term so is unenforceable.

Yes.  That is why that section is on the email.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

I think this can be summed up by this sucks big time.
Plusnet is now just another broadband provider that happens to be based in Yorkshire.
Nowt special at all.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

What a sorry mess this is. For my part PN is losing something that is very rare to have in this day and age- customers goodwill. PN had loads of mine but sadly that has all gone.  Could I happily recommend PlusNet to others? I think not. Will I stay at the end of my contract? Nope. Where will I go? I am seriously wondering if I really need fixed line broadband and telephone at all.

Bob, I'm on the Value product but haven't received an email.  Should I have done?

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

Even if you're on a product that wasn't affected by a price rise (if there are any), you'd still be notified about the change in terms so all customers should receive an email by the end of August.
Mine was sent to my default notification email address from 'Plusnet [plusnet@comm.plus.net]' (without a copy to 'postmaster@...').

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

Well this has left a bit of a bitter taste in my Plusnet experience.
Looking through the email, I'm not that worse off. I paid up front for the 12 months LRS so until January, I'm not affected by that.
My Talk anytime has gone up by 50p a month so that's £6 a year extra I wasn't expecting to pay during the rest of my 18 month contract (I have 10 months left).
The cessation charge isn't an issue as I won't just cease my internet without moving to an alternative provider.
Like I said, not a major biggie for me but as I have paid the LRS up front and need the Talk anytime then I do feel a little screwed over by Plusnet.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

I haven't had an email as yet.
My contract expires in January, 2014 - when, I receive the email and I accept the increase will Plusnet automatically start a new 12 month contract
from the date of the price rise?
I got caught out recently with my mobile provider - number change - a new contract was automatically entered-in for another 12 months from the date of the change.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

If you have an increase (line rental / call plan) and do nothing then your price will increase in October but your contract end date will remain 'as is'.  If you contact Plusnet to negotiate a better deal due to the price rise then you'll likely have to commit to a new contract in return for any deal offered.

Re: Pricing/Terms changes - October 2013

I've placed an order for BT infinity unlimited opt 1.
Do I have to phone Plusnet to hand my notice in?
