Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I am wondering about the "We won't be beat(en) on price" promise attached to Plusnet Value broadband.  Now Plusnet have brought out a new product, Essentials, that does beat Value on price on Market 2/3 exchanges, doesn't that mean they have to reduce the cost of their Value product to match?
Quote
Plusnet's Price Promise
WE WON'T BE BEAT ON PRICE
You won't find a lower price for standalone broadband
If another provider says they can offer you the lowest priced broadband in your area, just give us a call. No matter where you live in the UK, we're happy to hear from you.
Not only will we match any genuine price for standalone broadband*, but we may even be able to beat it. What's more, you might even be able to get both Plusnet broadband and phone together for less!
How our price promise works
Our price promise is on Plusnet Value Broadband versus the lowest cost standalone broadband product available from a competitor. It covers the total cost of broadband (subscription + setup costs) over the competitor contract length, up to 24 months.
What is standalone broadband?
Standalone means the price for 'just broadband' without phone or TV bundled in. You'll still need a landline to get our service, but we'll tell you if yours is compatible with our broadband when we check your number.
Found a cheaper deal?
If you do find a cheaper price for standalone broadband just give us a call on 0800 073 1120 (quote ref: T6A9PB) and we'll match it. You need to be able to show our sales team where you found the cheaper price and it must be available publicly

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I Currently have the Pro addition on my account and have chosen to go to Unlimited on my next billing date. Will the Pro disappear from my account at the start of my next billing month or do I need to kill the Pro part by raising a ticket
Also is there still an FTTC install reduction for current customers is the £50 a flat fee for everyone how has moved to the new packages. Does the old £25 current customer FTTC install charge still apply to those who have do not move?

I've highlighted a couple of points in that statement from PN; which I think answer your question.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Okay, I know it say "another provider" but it seems an odd sort of wriggle to invoke "yes, we won't let anybody else undercut our price but we can do it ourselves".  And the Essentials offer is certainly available publicly!

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Let's look at it the other way, if a customer on £6.49 Value contacts us and says they've seen Essentials and £5.99 then there's nothing stopping them from taking it anyway is there?

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Hi All,
We recently signed up to the 80/20 250GB Fibre product (and it's awesome!)
I would like to move onto this new Unlimited plan that is at the same price (19.99 a month).
When trying to 'upgrade' through the online page it says we have to pay a £25 activation / engineer visit fee. What's with this? That's a bit daft! We have only just pay a £50 install fee 2 months ago when it was installed. Surely this can be done as a free 'upgrade' as it's nothing more than a change on the system!
I understand we would have to agree to a new 18th month contract, but we a fairly new to Plusnet anyway so that's no issue.
Can someone please advise?

Thanks

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

It's a glitch in the system - you don't get charged anything.
This was confirmed in another post

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Yes, what's stopping them {from switching form Value to Essentials} is that they will lose the "We won't be beat on price" promise associated with the Value package.
Suppose you had a mortgage that was guaranteed to be cheaper then any similar offering from your mortgage provider's competitors and then your mortgage provider offered you the opportunity to switch to a mortgage with even lower interest but without the guarantee.  Is it obvious that you should switch?  The principle is the same here, just much less money involved.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I've just had Plusnet Extra Fibre installed on 13-Dec-2012.
I've been going round the Plusnet web site but can't find how to change it to unlimited. Could you provide a link please?

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

OK Oldjim and thanks. I did find the way and am in the process. I had a query about the £25 fee but I see you said it's a glitch so I'll accept that advice and proceed to upgrade to unlimited.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Just to confirm: I attach a screen capture of the mythical £25 fee.
I assume it's a glitch and I wouldn't be paying it as an existing fibre customer.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Plusnet - why offer anyone on a market 1 exchange an option to change product from Value to Essentials at same price and restrictive 12 month contract ? There is a 50p discount for market 1 & 2 customers and none for users on market 1. Yet again market 1 customers pay over 100 % extra cost for this product ! Ofcom or not - it is just a postcode lottery.

Hi yes I'd like to know the answer to the above post, as I'd like to upgrade from Value fibre to Unlimited, but do I cancel my Pro Add on.. or does it automatically cancel out when I get upgraded to Unlimited (as no use to average user for unlimited plan as mentioned in the FAQ).
Thanks in advance. I'll upgrade tonight methinks, good service plus net keep it up:)
