Duplicate Post Reminders

I get an email from PN when a thread I have posted in gets another post for me to read. This is useful.

Recently I have been getting duplicate emails. Why is this?

Posts being edited seem to do that.

That seems like a new thing that has been introduced with the platform updates. It seems to send an email when a post has been editted when you are subscribed to a thread.

It doesn't look like there are any settings to turn off notifications of editted posts though.. hmm.

It never did this before.. if you feel that this is an annoyance, I can ask Lithium to disable the notifications for editted posts (possibly) or put an idea forward to provide an option in the notification settings to turn it off?

It's just happened to me with 2 emails for this post.

This is getting ridiculous. I am regularly getting 3 emails and on occasion I am getting 4. Can it please be dealt with.

Really sorry that this is happening, I have sent an email to Lithium to chase this up to see what progress has been made.

Just letting you guys know that this issue has been escalated to tier 2 Lithium engineers to investigate further. Just wanted to keep you guys in the loop.

I'm still having problems with duplicate reminders. On one occasion I had 3 reminders.

When will this be resolved?

Lithium emailed me on Monday to let me know that they are still investigating this with their tier 2 engineers. I will update when I get a more positive outcome of this.

Mmm, you would have thought that a simple flag or bitmask to indicate that a mail has been sent would be easy to implement, after all that's really all it needs! But what do I know.

Surely Lithium know what code they have changed, so it ought not to take this long to identify the cause?

There again, if their change control were a bit iffy....
