Thanks for pointing that out @Oldjim. I will have to switch off my adblock software specifically for the community (there are no ads here anyway) and keep my eyes open for those users doing that.

I've at last found a browser extension for Chrome that freezes the dynamic avatars and it is written by Google themselves.
