Insertion of .png images in posts

I guess that this has been aired before but I cannot find one. Probably one for Oldjim. I have been pestering Jojo a bit over horrible download speeds and would like to include some My Broadband Speed images (saved in png format) in discussions rather than handfuls of typed data. I would think that there is proper route to do this. Can I be directed to a "How to" if there is one please.

If this is what you wish to insert

When you have done a speed test click the 'Share' link and copy the text in the 'Forum Link' box and paste it into your reply here.

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

That would be handy for one off values which in itself I may use, but what I am considering are screenshots of the MBS graphs which is where the .png comes from. This will allow the discussion about the display of historical data.

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

if it is on your computer it can omly go in as an attachment, it has to be in an internet file to get it in the body of the post.
If I want to, I upload it to Flickr, then copy the link and post

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

The graph isn't an image so you can't link to it as such.
What you can do is a screen capture (I use FastStone) and you can then add it as an attachment like this

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

Thanks Jim,
I only wish that my graph looked like yours, mine looks more like the Alps! I save them to Desktop using the Screenshot facility in Ubuntu hence the .png bit. I presume that your Faststone is something similar but uses .jpg. Should I be able to use it for what I have?
@jelve,
Where do I find that facility?  Forgive my ignorance!!

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

These are the two stages - first standard reply screen and second after clicking on Additional Options as circled
Then just browse to your desktop and click on the file and then open

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

If you normally use quick reply just compose your message that way then hit preview. You'll then be able to do the attachment.

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

Hi Jelver,
We live and learn, thanks to Jim I have (I hope) managed to send my graph to Jojo, If you look at my recent posts in Broadband you might see it. Jojo has been on the phone which has been very nice.

Re: Insertion of .png images in posts

With Apple OS you can select screen grab format in png or jpg, using tinkertool to set preference.
For windows I would think you could open png in a viewer, and save as jpg
