Re: Painful browsing the forum, like wading through treacle

Funny you should post this now @JonoH I was just about to ask if others had thought that the site was starting to degrade again.

The incident that we have open with Lithium isn't closed, we're monitoring it to make sure that the improvements are maintained. If there's anything that anyone is regularly seeing please let us know.

@JonoH,

Made more memory available!!

Surely the sizing metrics for a service such as this are well defined?

Concurrent users x message rate x database size (or whatever set of definable metrics) ought to be predictable. Sadly this feels too much like making it up as they go along.

The need to increase memory allocation does somewhat point to some part of the system leaking it!

It's running reasonably quick for me at the moment. Pages are loading in 1 to 3 seconds.

I agree, @Strat. The longest delay for me is actually opening a board from the main menu - around 3 - 5 seconds usually, but sometimes <2.

Re: Painful browsing the forum, like wading through treacle

This morning it is worse than it has ever been, may be a coincidence but very, very slow.

Edit:- OK, it may have been the initial site load as my browser caches nothing but it appears to have evened out now.

Edit 2:- Got that wrong the edit above took over 15 seconds to save!

Notification email are still taking an unacceptable time to arrive.

The header below shows that Lithium delayed sending this notification email, nearly five hours, from the time the message was created -

Still that is an improvement on the 22 hours that I often see  Crazy

Re: Painful browsing the forum, like wading through treacle

Difficult to know if that’s a delay by the sending service a refusal to accept delivery on the initial attempt, much like the behaviour of gmail servers.

Without access to server logs we have no idea if the email went from Lithium to your service provider on its first attempt or sometime later when the receiptient server deemed it had toyed long enough with the attempted communication.

Re: Painful browsing the forum, like wading through treacle

Perhaps @JonoH can raise this with Lithium, as the email header shown above contains their "Message-ID" so shouldn't be too difficult to find.

It's already with them @Anonymous however, I don't know how long it will take for them to respond. I'll let you know when I hear back.
