The software package upgrades are separate to the loadbalancer maintenance that's still due to go ahead as far as I'm aware.

Any idea when this may be taking place ?? ?Huh

Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

Is it just me or has posting replies with attachments gone wrong again today ?
I have posted several forum replies today, and have waited for minutes each time because the post hung, then retried, and retried, before it worked.
The last reply I made, I retried at least five times, then eventually the reply was accepted but the attachment was missing, but when I modified and added the attachment it loaded almost immediately.

Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

I'm still waiting for the posting of http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,94496.msg1101055.html#msg1101055 to complete although I can see it has done so by looking in another tab.
They didn't know what they did to speed it up (which proved there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the forum software) and no doubt they won't have a clue what's broken it again.
Am I the only one that finds it frightening that my ISP has no idea how to set up even reasonable performance networks?
Edit: After about about 5 minutes or so it died with "The server at community.plus.net is taking too long to respond.".

Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

only thing letting these forums down is the known issues with uploading attachments some people have. other than that the forums seams to work well and look alright, but a spring clean is always nice and often upgrading forums/websites helps bring new faces in, either way im happy.

I just used the Reported Post function and the connection hung as previously reported even though the reported post was posted

Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

I had had all sorts of problems earlier with posts either hanging or after hitting "Post" nothing at all happening.  Angry

Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

Just been discussing this and as the work is quite intrusive there's going to be a short (2 hour) outage on the Community Site. We're aiming to do this Thursday morning next week and will let you know the timings closer to that date.

I'm with you on this Jelv.  The overall infrastructure, both network and back-office,  is creaking at the seams and far too many of the proposed 'fixes' are in the Manana or later category.  I hope the planned outage on Thursday has a significant effect on the network.

Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

Are these fixed JUST for the forum related issues, or will it also eliminate the deluge of spurious packets that come from the IMAP servers ?
