And the best on offer is....

Put some sort of posting limit on everyone's account. And the bane of the internet the captcha.

Is that what's at the top of the agenda - making the forum even more user unfriendly.

That user has now been banned by mods.

I have now enabled the Captcha word verification to private messages. If a user sends more than two messages per minute they will get the word challenge. Community Veterans will NOT be affected as they are long standing members.

Hopefully this will alleviate this issue somewhat. If you receive a PM from anyone that is suspicious, please report them and an IP ban will be placed upon them so that they cannot create a new account and do it again.

Using a test account I can confirm that this is working as expected. My test user was given the community veteran role and the word verification was not displayed as expected for that user. I then made that user a normal user and sent a bunch of messages to my admin account and after the second message, the word challenge was presented.

This should help stop this kind of thing from happening again to many users (but a couple of messages WILL get through... just report them anyway).

I got spammed by 'brucie' today as well, both via PM and email. Glad to hear that some measures are now being taken to stop this misuse of the Forum.

Late to the party on this (been away). - It's worth reporting such hotmail addresses to MS for investigation. They could be compromised accounts or the spammers themselves. I have reported those two.
