I know I may be wrong here, so don't shoot me, but I get the impression that either no-one follows up on their posts on the support boards, or the topics are monitored and responded to 'privately' by support - for whatever reason. I just wonder if it is an intention by BT to get a reason to close down a once active and useful avenue of help?

@jab1 "............. not a lot of people know that ! ! ! "
Plusnet, in it`s wisdom, decdided a few years back, that it would close "live chat" as it caused too much work, and they could use the guys on Live Chat, to answer phones instead.... unfortunately, this resulted in a negative way, as it was discrimination against people with hearing problems, that could not use the phone to hold a conversation.... so... having been alerted to this situation, they decided that it might be a good idea to have a "Twitface" resource for people to try to get help with their problems... again... they forgot that "not everyone" likes, uses, or has, "twitface" accounts. Mind you.... that is often called " Award winning customer service"....Nobody has ever said which kind of "award" was given though !
Around about the same time, many of the "old timers", and long serving forum members, who used to have a great camaradery (?) with other members, decided that it was time to move on, ,.... the same way that Plusnet had moved on.... being overrun by BT. so, the best parts of the forum "help line system" just gradually disintegrated...
For the past few years, since about the start of COVID lockdowns, there has been a lack of control by the "moderation team" regarding forum rule breaking, with repeated offences, being reported by various people, and no action taken against the perpetrator. The loss of a good "moderation team", has also contributed to the low standards and low useage of the forums, which will never be able to be recovered.
Some members still try to help out other members, but as you said, generally, after being given the help, the person requiring the help, just ignores his postings, which has a "bad taste" effect on those members who do/did try to help, therefore they too, have decided it is not worth bothering with it anymore.
Often the help is now passed on via the Private Message service. where "one to one" communication seems to be a way to follow up any help advice given, and any queries can be similarly dealt with between the two parties involved... Sometimes the "open forum" style can add more confusing advice, by going "off topic" slightly from various points of views being tendered.

I agree with what you say above, @shutter - in the main - but my point is/was that the lack of response by OP's leads me to believe (rightly or wrongly) that there is a 'higher-level' intention to bring the PN forums into line, so to speak, with the BT Broadband one, which from my experience, admittedly a few years back, is to frustrate the end-user so they just give up and go away.

Another chance to bash the Moderating Team which didn't appear to be the OP's remit. Apologies if I got that wrong.
There are members who appear to purposely goad others then complain when it backfires. As for 'no action being taken' how would you know?

@jab1 Sorry for venting.
As for your original question(s) I don't believe BT is doing their bit in trying to bring the fora to a close. I sincerely hope that is not the case!
It does grate on me when members don't post back even wirh a thank you for time taken in replying - this even in threads I don't contribute to.

You may not believe that - as is your right - but since PN was totally absorbed into the BT Consumer Division, and before, the brand has been 'aligned' with the principles and practices of the BT group, of which I had painful experience some years ago while dealing with BT Broadband on behalf of other family members - fortunately, they have left that provider, so I don't have to go through that pain any more.

People are too used to the likes of Farcebook these days. The groups on there are overrun with the same question being asked time and again because there is no easy way to find similar posts. There is no appetite for a lot of internet users now to spend a few minutes browsing to see if their issue is one already discussed and are looking for the instant answer. I suppose I am just as guilty as the next as all of my regular forums have closed and become Farcebook entities, sometimes for the better.
If someone has notifications turned off, they wouldn't know it had been responded to and probably wouldn't think to come back if answered elsewhere.
Just my tuppencworth.

Facebook/Twitter (X) are as you say, the go-to (anti)social platforms today, dumbed down and inefficient as they are.
I agree people appear to be expecting instant answers - which from what little of Twitbook I have explored, means you get rubbish. Personally, I can't see how those platforms can usefully replace a traditional open forum, but just maybe at 70 and with 30+ years of forum experience, I'm not 'switched-on'.
I can't remember, but I thought, on here at least, notifications are on by default, and I know, if I contribute to a topic, there is a big red notification over my avatar of any replies.

If the internet connection has been dumbed down by some to WiFi, it could be that folk want a quick answer rather than a request for more information, which is not the answer they are looking for.
In most cases it's best just to point faults to the texting service, we're only really filling in the large gaps in Plusnet crumbling support model.

@Dan_the_Van Sorry, but I suspect you are missing some of what I am saying. Yes, if a customer reports what looks like a network issue, then aiming them at the bot is generally the easiest option, which I now regularly do, as you may notice. However, that 'service' is not infallible, and from recent experience, ha not been set up to deal with SOGEA/FTTP connections.
