How about  an option to put a thumbs down to a post?

No sure if that would work although I accept it is used on a number of other boards.

Now how about the following for a radical idea, let users moderate the boards !

After a agreed number of thumbs down on any specific response to a post that person would be automatically locked out for 48 hours ?

Removes pressure from the mods and is more democratic ?

To what end?

Thumbs up is not a voting system as such, so there's no need for a sense of a "vote against" thumbs down.  I can see potential danger in this idea, in the facility being used as a bullying mechanism against individual expression of points of view.

There's already one forum member that thinks his post count and number of likes he's received somehow gives him superiority over others as it is...

It's not possible to have a 'thumbs down' button as the kudos system within Lithium does not support it. Would be good to have other types of scores for posts but it isn't possible for me to implement something like that.
