Why is the new forum so slow to load ?

Re: Why is the new forum so slow to load ?

A time-stamped trace of this page reloading in 20 seconds !, sent to Bob via private message for analysis.

The trace shows many delays due to apparent coding errors, unknown properties, parsing issues, and unsupported fonts.  This could be the page being poorly coded, or that the page instructions are not being recognized by my browser, but seeing as this new site is supposed to work on a wide range of browser formats, something is obviously not working correctly or as intended !

These delays are NOT being caused by a slow connection or high latency.

However it is noticeable that a single core of my core2duo CPU hits 100% for the entire page load.

I don't have a problem with any other website, just the new Plusnet forum.

There is no doubt that page rendering is CPU heavy!

Re: Why is the new forum so slow to load ?

Very slow loading here, 80/20 fibre. Other sites aren't a problem.

I even got this as the first page of this thread was loading

------------------

Secure Connection Failed

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

-----------

But every page is slow loading - good 10-20 seconds. Maybe I'll give Opera a go and see what happens.

=========

Edit: Very fast loading using Opera Ver 36.0, pedestrian speed using Firefox Ver 45.0

Ever helpful. Grin Sure, I’d love to help you out. Now which way did you come in?

Re: Why is the new forum so slow to load ?

How very strange, having no problems with it in general, it's much zippier than the old SMF and I haven't got an exactly fast computer. Had one snag earlier this afternoon when things seemed to freeze, but apart from that, OK.

Re: Why is the new forum so slow to load ?

I've moved onto a new just built PC, 3.4GHz twin core, 4GB RAM, with the latest OS and fully updated, Firefox 45.0.1,  and this forum's pages are still taking more than NINE seconds to load !

According to this website - http://www.hobo-web.co.uk/your-website-design-should-load-in-4-seconds/

2 seconds is the threshold for ecommerce website acceptability

I would suggest that 2 seconds is the acceptable limit for those of us forum users who can type fast, and navigate websites at a rapid pace.

Re: Why is the new forum so slow to load ?

I'm viewing this on my 4GHz i7 Mac and it loads in less than the two second 'threshold' as quoted, and I'm on ADSL, and so far I've never experienced the speed issues noted here, even my iPad is just as comparable in rendering. Oh! I'm using WaterFox 43.0.4 as my browser, and Safari is just as good.

I'm just not seeing this issue at all and I haven't got a fast computer with bucket loads of memory.

Re: Why is the new forum so slow to load ?

I had the problem a few times this morning, each time when trying to reply to a Post. Typically 20 - 30 seconds.  Been OK since I got back home around 16:00

What is the link for?  It just looks like advertising?
