Is Jack on an extended holiday?

The site is ridiculously slow - has been for weeks!

Fix

Is Jack on an extended holiday?

Very. He left for new challenges late last year

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: jaread

@MisterW Thanks for that information - I wasn't aware!

Is anyone taking up his post, or are we scuppered?

Re: jaread

@MisterW Nor was I. I don't recall him saying anything, not that he had to, but there is something about this that smells bad to me.

He posted in the Mod's area and the Superuser area to advise that he was leaving and he gave us plenty of notice.

Re: jaread

I think there's some confusion around what Jack actually did, Jack was one of our development team but wasn't specifically tasked with these boards, he was however interested in the community, and took a keen interest in it, often in his own time.

We absolutely will be hiring a new developer, but it will be up to them to decide if they'd like to spend time on these boards, and even if they want to let themselves be known.

It might feel like a loss but only because we were spoiled by Jack.

Absolutely, although I believe you can still tag @jaread83 who knows he might even check it.

@Anonymous, @JonoH - got notification of that last post, but not for any of the previous ones? Huh

Re: jaread

What notifications are you referring to @jab1? I get an email when someone mentions me but not when that mention is part of a citation (i.e. quote). If it's topic subscriptions you are referring to then I can't say as I've not subscribed to this thread, but I will now for testing purposes. Smiley

Re: jaread

I am referring to notifications to replies to subscribed threads, Mook. I have my preferences set to auto-subscribe, so I should have received notifications for all reples to this thread, but I only seem to be getting them when I am tagged within a reply.Undecided
