I have just tested and am very pleased to say it works thank you. I had given up on it ever working - I would be very interested to know what the fix was. Thank you @Townman.
I do not know what the technical fix was. All I can tell you is that this is the result of persistence from the super users, requesting a rethink of the principle that the inhibition of access to the SMTP server was a restitution of how things should be (given other technical changes).
