This has only happened today but may have been happening for a longer period. PN host my domain for emails and has been for over twenty years. However, today I am getting the following response from Gmail:
Final-recipient: rfc822; @gmail.com Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550-5.7.26 This message does not pass authentication checks (SPF and DKIM both
I have omitted my gmail account name but used this as a test when an email to another account was rejected for the same reason.

@Total_Chaos you can enable SPF ( but not DKIM I'm afraid ) on your hosted domain as explained here https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Mail-bouncing-to-gmail/m-p/1907102#M41985
That should help. Gmail seem to have changed their policy on requiring the use of SPF & DKIM recently

@MisterW
I'll try that. The interesting thing is that over a few years I have checked the DKIM SPF for the domain and it has always shown up as being correct. I have also set up in several cases mail servers on websites for DKIM and SPF as well, and that is very important where payment gateways are concerned.

I dont see how that can be IF the domain is hosted by PlusNet. There is no DKIM facility for hosted domains and never has been. By default there will be no SPF record unless you use the workaround above. The Plusnet DNS control facility does not allow the creation of TXT records or suitable CNAME records for DKIM , so even if you run your own mail server its not possible!
Lack of DKIM is the main reason I've just moved my domain and email elsewhere.

@MisterW I was going to do this a few years ago, move the mail, mainly due, at the time, to no SLS/TLS, etc, with PN. Unfortunately I just missed the free domain mail hosting by Google and Microsoft. In the long term I still think that I will need to move it, and as we don't know what PN will be doing for existing customers in the future regarding mail, that is probably the best solution.
I used to undertake the DKIM and SPF records manually and then run a checker over them. Most websites these days that offer email create them automatically. However if you wish to add a further domain, or a different route then that is still virtually a manual operation.
BTW it appears to have worked the SPF addition to the MX.

@Total_Chaos that's fine but IF your domain is hosted by Plusnet, then the nameservers will be ns1&2.force9.net and there is no way to add the records to them!.
