Emails disappeared

I've been with Plusnet for years so obviously getting emails that I'm exceeding mailbox size, however I've noticed in the last couple of days my whole mailbox has been reduced to the last seven days, everything else has disappeared.  So I have the grand total of 346 emails available to me.  Help!!

Re: Emails disappeared

Best guess is that they haven’t entirely disappeared.

How do you access the emails (on a phone, though a browser, using an email program on a computer)?

The best indication of what Plusnet hold is looking via a web browser. Another program may have a different set of emails.

Re: Emails disappeared

I access through my laptop (apple mail) & iphone, went directly to webmail online and it only has those emails showing.  I can't find anything anywhere older than seven days.

Re: Emails disappeared

You’ve said that you’ve been receiving FUP exceeded emails … but offered no indication of what (if any) action you took to reduce your usage. It is therefore likely that your mailbox has been archived.

You can request the mailbox be restored by posting on the sticky topic page on the mail board.

Re: Emails disappeared

I assumed they would archive the emails from years ago, not every single one of my emails!!

Re: Emails disappeared

It is not appropriate for a supplier to determine how YOUR email is managed. Such is the choice / responsibility of the individual user according to their own needs. If you expect that / want just the old stuff to be archived, that is something you need to do to somewhere you retain indefinite access to.

Arguably Plusnet’s process here ought to be called short term off-lining. Archiving implies saving selected content somewhere less easy to access, but still accessible indefinitely. Temporary off-lining is not selective nor readily accessible.

Re: Emails disappeared

Yes, I understand that.  If I'd lost an email from 2017 I'd understand that I should have dealt with it appropriately at the time, but considerably more annoying when I've lost an email from last Monday!!

The last email I had in regard to this stated that my inbox had been 50% archived, being left with 300 odd emails is considerably more than 50%!

Re: Emails disappeared

@NickyS

Have you also lost the copies of the emails in the Apple Mail programme?

Depending on how the Apple Mail is set up with Plusnet you might or might not still have messages on the Mac.

This might be worth a read to make local copies of messages (Archive)

If you have Outlook available, I would set it up to read your Plusnet mail and then make a local backup.
