Emails missing from inbox

I have a week's worth of emails that are missing from my inbox. Left home last Thursday and turned off desktop computer with pop3 access. Not been back since, so emails are not downloading there. But I checked webmail at about midnight Wednesday night and inbox completely empty. Checked inbox again midnight Thursday and now I have 80 emails that came in on Thursday but about 7 days of emails completely missing. What could possibly have happened and can I get my emails restored? I'm quite worried I've lost some really important stuff.

Hiya @caitep, thanks a lot for getting in touch and I'm really sorry for the delayed response. 

Have you managed to recover the lost emails in the meantime since posting this? If not, can I ask whether you've adjusted your settings to save emails on our server despite them being downloaded to your client?
