From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

I am still having the rejected message for all emails sent to gmail accounts, sent from a POP email client (Thunderbird)

We use a @clara.co.uk on a Plusnet Internet connection (with a fixed IP address). A few months ago we were on a a dynamic IP address with Plusnet with the the same issue.

Note - we have the same issue whether we use a plusnet outgoing email server or a clara email server.

 

It would be really great if this issue could be solved.

The clara.co.uk domain does not include the plusnet relay server in its SPF record so I would not recommend you use that method of sending emails (although it is configured to 'soft fail'): -

If you experience issues sending from a non-Plusnet issued email address via a non-Plusnet maintained mail server then I'm struggling to see how Plusnet has anything to do with the cause in your case Huh

I can now email to a gmail account from my plusnet webmail but still get bounceback when I try via my MacBook dialstart account.

@Chris31 Ah, OK. No, he is not staff - they are clearly identified as such - their names are in purple and their avatars have 'STAFF' at the side of them.

If you reply to someone in a long thread like this where there are multiple users, you need to aim the post at them by 'tagging' them - hit the '@' symbol on your keyboard and it will bring up a list of participants, and then select the one you want.

I am having a different problem today which I suspect is related to the attempt to solve this issue.

 

All emails to john@********.globalnet.co.uk are being rejected, ones to ********@globalnet.co.uk are getting through.

 

The error message says:

The response was:

DNS Error: DNS type 'mx' lookup of *******.globalnet.co.uk responded with code NOERROR DNS type 'mx' lookup of ********.globalnet.co.uk had no relevant answers. DNS type 'aaaa' lookup of *******.globalnet.co.uk responded with code NOERROR DNS type 'aaaa' lookup of ******.globalnet.co.uk had no relevant answers. DNS type 'a' lookup of ******.globalnet.co.uk responded with code NOERROR DNS type 'a' lookup of ****.globalnet.co.uk had no relevant answers.

 

Basically domain ********.globalnet.co.uk is not found so when adding a john@ fails.

 

Unless this a another totally unrelated problem?

Just to clarify this means that I am unable to receive or send any emails! Just had several texts from companies saying my email address is getting rejected!

Lauren, indeed I am. I haven’t been able to send anything from name@username.globalnet.co.uk nor has anyone been able to send emails to it since first thing this morning.

 

surely it must be fixing the gmail issue has left me like this? 

it is looking for a domain that it can’t find.

 

Until this is resolved I don’t know if the gmail fix is working

Was this an error you have received when you attempted to send or receive mail? I've just sent an email to your email address in that format and haven't received a bounceback. Have you received an email from me just now?
