This is exactly what is happening with me. Emails to a gmail account go through when I use ******@globalnet.co.uk but bounce back if I (or my husband) use our mamed accounts e.g. *****@******.globalnet.co.uk.

Is this still the case today? Can you send mail to non-Gmail addresses from your email address in the format of mailbox@username.Globalnet.co.uk? Similarly are you able to receive mail okay there?

I can’t send emails to anyone from John@username.globalnet.co.uk and no one can send to it. Everything works for username@globalnet.co.uk.

Just try sending one and you will get the error message. I am not at home at moment so cannot do much more to help you. It seems to be looking for a domain username.globalnet.uk and can’t find one

OK no problem. I've already tried sending you an email though and didn't get an error.

Could you confirm if the error you've suggested is when you have sent an email or someone else is trying to send you one?

Yes, I can still send email to non gmail addresses in that format and receive mail. The problem is only with gmail

The problem is only when sending emails. There is not a problem in receiving

Can you private message me a full copy of the bounceback you'd receive when emailing a Gmail address?

I think this is caused by a server timeout. These things happen.

John - for this error - there is nothing else.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

@Spruce01, thanks for the private message! Sorry I haven't replied yet. I was out of the office yesterday, but I did pass it to NetOps, who are rolling back the changes they made to add a SPF record to the username.globalnet.co.uk domain.

Once that's done, hopefully you'll be able to receive and send mail again. They'll then investigate further to figure out why adding the record had caused this as I suspect we'll still need it to prevent the emails from bouncing as spam.

Hi...
Really sorry to jump onto this post but it's the only place on the internet where I can find anything about a very similar problem I am trying to help my friend with. I have phoned Plusnet support and haven't had the help I was looking for.

The problem started in the last few weeks.

1, All emails to any @gmail.com email addresses get bounced back from a Plusnet email address (name@user.plus.com).
The gmail addresses have regularly been contacted over the last few years with no problems.
2, Emails sent to any non gmail email addresses get through ok.
3, The email client being used to send emails via Plusnet's SMTP Server is Thunderbird.
4, If an email is sent via Plusnet's online Webmail it seems to get through.

I don't know if this is related to this ongoing thread but any help or advice would be really helpful.

Yes they all bounce back with a Message when sending via Thunderbird.
It's only Gmail addresses that get rejected.
