No problem.  Hopefully that will get you sorted. It's definitely worth you trying @MisterW's suggestion to check that the actual SPF has been created, but then emails to GMail should work again.

@Black_Shuck No problem. The script that checks for your added mx record runs every 6 hrs (I believe?). So I'd suggest checking using mxtoolbox to check when the spf record has been created. Then try emails to gmail again.

OK, the SPF is active on the test website, but still bouncing emails back from Gmail.

It's possible that the DNS change hasn't propagated fully yet, so gmail's servers aren't finding the SPF record.

What's the exact error that you're getting when sending to gmail ?

You should need nothing other than setting your outgoing server to relay.plus.net , using port 587 with STARTTLS encryption

That doesnt show the smtp error I'm afraid, there should be somewhere the smtp error and status codes as in the list I posted
