Hi all,
I just wanted to come on here and warn you about a issue I’m personally experiencing with plusnet. The thing is I was looking at my emails the other day, when suddenly over 2000 of them just disappeared.
Now I’ve had this happen before and just thought they’d been archived so I contacted plusnet by raising a ticket and their reply was, did you receive a email to say they’d been archived, to which I replied no.
Now according to plusnet, they don’t archive your emails without informing you first, now I personally know that this is rubbish because I’ve had it happen to me before and I only learnt about archiving and raising a ticket via the plusnet community.
so when I explained to them about it happening before without any emailed warnings, their response was just simply no can’t happen so I asked if they’d checked just to make sure and the reply was, if I hadn’t received a email stating they’d had been archived, then they wouldn’t have been, (which to me means no we’ve not checked) so I then asked well what’s happened to them because I need them back, as some are important and they just said we don’t know and there’s nothing else we can do so good bye and basically good riddance.
There customer service is an absolute disgrace and lacking in a moral obligation to help its customers so now I’m know in the process of removing what emails didn’t disappear to a more reputable and trustworthy provider.
Also almost forgot, I’ve also found out that my force9 email address is know classed as an invalid email address on some websites and can’t be used so it’s yet another reason why I’m changing my email provider.
So as I say I just wanted to bring these issues to the community’s attention so hopefully no one else ends up with the same trouble and poor customer service.
One final thing to say FIND A MORE RELIABLE EMAIL PROVIDER.
Thanks
One very annoyed soon to be ex plusnet user.

Every time I browse this forum a bit more of Plusnet seems to be severely broken – email handling, accounts, customer service and pretty much everything that’s legacy.
So where is the surprise ? It seems that Plusnet is being allowed to ‘wither on the vine’ ready for closure, but….. I saw a TV ad for Plusnet the other day so…………..
Out of curiosity, having read the OP I logged into my Plusnet webmail account, which incidentally I haven’t done for many years. I didn’t really expect it to still be there. There are a number of messages telling me my bill is ready to view and one telling me my emails have been archived and will soon be permanently deleted. Curiously I get the ‘bill is ready’ to view emails on my Gmail account but I have NEVER had the archiving message. Clearly Plusnet don’t consider that information important!
In fairness it does say you need to use the email account at least once every 90 days which I don’t.
I was advised a long time ago not to use any ISP services – email, webspace etc to avoid problems if you change ISPs.
Currently I have email, webspace, VOIP and FTTP all from different suppliers so if any of them start to fail its simple enough to change just the failing service without impacting the others.
I use a few email providers for different purposes with my main account being Gmail. I know they’re not popular with everyone but to be honest I’ve never had a problem and their spam filtering seems very good. Only on rare occasions has a valid email ended up in their spam folder.
My oldest email (Gmail) is well over twenty years old and with 15Gb of free storage it could well get to be much older.
