Lost emails - windows11 forced reset

Hi, I recently had to run windows reset at start up due to black screen issues, in doing so important email messages have been deleted for 2 users on my account. I have tried all options including recovery software and there is nothing on c drive, and also it appears that webmail auto deleted on download to mail client. Have spoken to customer service and they were unable to assist. Does anyone have any experience of this and how and whether they were able to retrieve emails. Ant thoughts?

@MarkS1  Welcome to the Community Forums.

Which email client are you using?

Was the client set to use the IMAP or POP3 protocol?

Are they  available if you log into webmail?

Re: Lost emails - windows11 forced reset

Hi Balrick1, mail client is Mozilla Thunderbird, i am not 100% sure on pop3 or IMAP as it was a long time ago. I have checked webmail and they do not appear.

Re: Lost emails - windows11 forced reset

Sounds as though this was configured as POP3 in which case there will be nothing on the mail server as POP3 moves everything from the server to the PC.

If you do not have a local back up your best hope is that the reset left the data files in place and thunderbirds mail store can be recovered.
