I have a similar looking issue to Tobiz yesterday: no emails received since 9.28pm Monday 17 March and I can't send emails. I have a MacBook with Mail and I get an error message: 'Mail can't verify the identity of the server "mail.metronet.co.uk" '. I've been with Metronet and then Plusnet for years and don't think anything has changed at my end. I can't send or receive emails on my iPhone either, so it looks to me like Plusnet have changed something. I can send and receive emails via webmail. I'd be grateful for some advice; I've read the posts on similar subjects but I'm not very techie. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I also ended up with Plusnet having started ADSL with Metronet.
I don't think I ever had email with Metronet but it sounds like your account has lasted most of 20 years after Plusnet bought Metronet (and were then bought by BT),
You might find that using the Plusnet SMTP address would work
https://www.plus.net/help/archive/email/email-switch/
It doesn't mention Metronet but the Force9 instructions might work.
I might also think about migrating to another email supplier.
My top recommendation is Microsoft's Outlook (outlook.com) which would work OK with Mac mail but there is a standalone Outlook client for Macs.
Microsoft Outlook for Mac | Microsoft 365
Otherwise you probably have an iCloud account that does mail.

The certificate issue reported is probably arising from setting SSL/TLS or STARTTLS encryption. Try without encryption on port 25.

I now have an iCloud email address and have tried to set up a redirect from my Metronet email address. The instructions for setting this up in Manage My Account refer to a domain that is not the same as in my email. I've sent a test email to that email address and it did not arrive in my Metronet account. I have again lost access to my Metronet emails and cannot send or receive emails from that account any more. The only way I can access my Metronet email is via webmail. I'd be very grateful if anyone can help me to set up a redirect and regain access to my Metronet emails.

I've now got an issue where emails aren't arriving, but sending is working fine. The occasional one is getting through, but most appear to be stuck somewhere. Also affecting webmail.
If I try and send myself an email from a non-PN account, I (eventually) get this message:
This is the mail system at host send.one.com. #################################################################### # THIS IS A WARNING ONLY. YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE. # #################################################################### I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message has not yet been delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. <******@metronet.co.uk> delayed: host mx.enmail.co (91.204.208.191): Network error: Unexpectedly disconnected (BANNER)

Hi @pwberry,
If this issue is also happening in webmail, could you please send the email headers from the sent email, like when you tested sending from the non-plusnet email address to your Metronet email?
Preferable sending this in a private message to myself to avoid revealing any personal information.
Should this be a webmail related issue our net-ops team should be able to resolve it with that information.
Also, does this happen when receiving from multiple email addresses? or does it appear to be the same ones and other seem fine?
Look forward to hearing from you,
Thanks,
Lex

I tagged this query onto anther query on Dialstart slow delivery asking if they were related. The reply was probably, there were some large queues last night.
