No emails in/out via Plusnet since yesterday evening

Since yesterday evening, no emails in or out via Plusnet to my home devices. 
These are MacBook (ageing), iPad and iPhone, all with software fully updated.
Incoming Mail is present on the Plusnet webmail server.
When I go to check email on a device, I get the message “Connecring . .” for a while, then it reverts to “Updated just now”, but with none of the mails downloaded.

Any suggestions for solving this problem will be gratefully received.

@tonyhet Is your email account under the MAAF brand? - there is a known problem, if so.

It could be just the known issued with Apple's email clients.  Would be wise to look at Apple's forums on the subject.  There have been various reports of issues with iOS 18.2 and 18.3 though I have not encountered them myself.

Unloading the email application (swipe it up and off the screen) and restarting it have been known to fix things.

John - if MAAF is Madasafish, then yes. Account set up years back with Globalnet, became Madasafish etc.

Can you point me towards solution for the known problem ?

MAAF resolution is still in-flight, some report it working again.  DNS changes need to promulgate all of the DNS server instances.

Both madasafish.com and www.madasafish.com need to update everywhere.

Just ran some more tests - can connect over PN network to the MAAF website (www.madasafish.com) but not when connected over EE mobile.

Looks as though the DNS promulgation is still a work in progress.

Thanks Townman. “Should be sorted in DNS” was the first reaction at local IT shop. Hopefully the man there who has some knowledge of my setup will be able to look further on Monday.

Thanks jab1. Have checked out some of relevant topics on this board. Most above my skill level, though will raise a ticket with Madasafish direct (assuming I can access them still), if only to keep prodding them.

”Should be in the DNS”” was the immediate reaction when I spoke to local IT shop. Hopefully man there who knows my setup will be able to have a look on Monday.

Now that we know that the MAAF issue is resolved, on the iPhone / iPad I would unload the mail application (swipe it up off the screen) and restart it.

That application is notorious for getting itself in a pickle!

What version of iOS are you running?

Had been using wife’s iPad to tell friend about this problem. Then went back to own iPad and discovered a whole set of emails had been downloaded !

So basically problem solved - much relief.

ipad and phone both run 18.3 software, but just seen 18.3.1 now awaiting download on both, so will get that done soonest.

 

Plan to close the thread once 18.3.1 once that done.

Hi jab1

Shorty after email fired itself up again, I realised that Calendar had also been out of action, but had restarted with the email (though before I installed 18.3.1, which made no difference).

Problem now is that it is only working on the iPad- so no auto updating to / from the other devices.

 

Am thinking of submitting ticket to Madasafish. Also wonder if I should raise a different topic for this additional problem?

@tonyhet Before going down possibly tortuous routes, can you try totally rebooting the iPad? Not that I have had many issues with those I have used, but it is amazing what a full reboot can sometimes achieve.

@tonyhet Hi! Lex here from the plusnet staff.

So the Ipad seems to be getting the emails just fine?

I know you said "Problem now is that it is only working on the iPad", this would suggest an issue with the client you are using or the devices themselves.

With you using apple devices, is it safe to assume you are using the default mail app on those devices?

 

Raising a ticket with madasafish wouldn't really directly help you with this issue, if it's only not being able to access emails from some devices.

Have you already tried to log in via webmail.plus.net directly with your madasafish credentials and see if those emails show across your devices on there?

What you may need to end up doing is setting up the email clients again with your detail on each device to see if they come through then. That usually helps identify where the issue is.
