Not receiving emails to new mailbox

Last Friday I set up a new mailbox for my wife POP3 mail.plus.net and SMPT relay.plus.net.

It sends out emails  - no problem.

Incoming Mail Server:

    Host name: mail.plus.net

    Username: xxxxxx+xxxxxxx

    Pasword: *************

 

So far the only email received was last Friday was the confirmation of the opening of the mailbox.

I can login to the webmail with the above username and password and see all the emails received to date for the new email address.

What mail client are you using that can't receive mail?

Its a new Apple iPad.

So you are using the native Apple Mail client. I must admit I have problems setting up other accounts on there - in fact I have given up and just use the native iCloud address. So it is a problem with the iPad and unfortunately, and as I say I have given up with adding other accounts on there, so I can't really help.

I know it is possible, as I set one up previously, but at some point when I upgraded my iPad, it failed, and because of the way I work, I decided to abandon any further attempts.

Sorry I can't help any further, but hopefully someone else can.

Surely someone at Plusnet staff must know. Their email got through so it cannot be impossible.

The iPad is on IOS 17.  My new iPhone 15 is IOS 17 and that sets up ok

I've not been very impressed with the Apple mail accout generally of late (slow, unreliable) but I suspect it's also related to the providers.

I use IMAP with the limited use I make of the Plusnet email and that would be a better choice than POP in most cases.

@Wizee Plusnet staff, especially the call centre staff you will speak to, do not know the ins and outs of every device on the market, and the fact that you have successfully set it up on your phone strongly suggests it is something on the iPad which is not correct, which makes it even harder for others to possibly help.

Given you can see the email in webmail, this is not a mail service issue which is the limit of Plusnet’s service support. This would appear to be an email client configuration. If this were an IMAP client, I would suggest setting the IMAP root folder to inbox.

As mentioned above, IMAP would be better than POP3.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
