Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

"and has nothing to do with this activity" - Did anyone say that it had? No, they didn't. 🙄

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

If there was no inference of there being a connection, why would one ask that question on this topic?  It helps to be clear that there is no connection, for it stops conspiracy theories! Cheesy

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

...Why ask it? Presumably because - though just a quick aside ("BTW") - it IS an email related question. Answered briefly (or at least... that was the original idea).

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Sorry for bringing this up.

I have always been happy with the lack of junk mail on my metronet.co.uk account.  But I've never been sure if metronet/plusnet did anything actively to remove the junk.

I did think it probably was coincidence, but it was possible that if there are active measures, something could have gone wrong during the preparation stage for the switchover.

BTW after the surge on 8-Apr my junk mail is now getting back to normal again (touch wood).

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Yeah we actively check for spam and viruses. You probably never see this but when you send an email or an email is sent to you it goes though one of 2 sets of servers: AvAsOuts and AvAsIns, that stands for antivirus and antispam and they do all sorts of checks for spam and viruses.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Tues 22nd 10:00

My Thunderbird pop3 client connected to my metronet email service is not receiving any emails but is able to send emails.

I have an email account with idnet using Thunderbird pop3 client. This account is able to send emails to itself and receive emails from my metronet account.

My metronet account is not able to send emails to itself (ie it's not receiving them but probably sending them, see above).

My metronet account was receiving emails yesterday, ie 21st.

I've not change the setup of either metronet or idnet clients.

Is that really the responsibly of the ISP ?  A false positive may have serious cosequences.

I don't know if you ever get them but on mine the spams just have the subject modified to add the tag [SPAM] to it.
