Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

I don't reply every time it happens but it's just happened again at work. I opened up Chrome (on my XPSP3 computer), logged onto RC, Inbox noted 21 unread messages, clicked in Inbox, list refreshed and now showed TWO extra emails (timed at 8 and 43 minutes earlier) though the counter only went up ONE to 22 - the 22 was correct when I counted up.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

Another example of the count being wrong - this morning on my home computer (XPSP3;FF13) I opened up to find there were nine unread messages with the counter clearly showing eight. I clicked on Inbox and it changed to nine...

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

For the record it's happened again - logged on this morning having downloaded last night. Just 4 unread emails in my Inbox - or is it 5 as it thinks? I clicked on Inbox and one appeared timed earlier than any on the list...

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

A slight twist to the problem.  Just logged on to webmail after a week away and round cube is showing 83 messages in the inbox but the status at the bottom right of the screen says 1 to 20 of 20 ?Huh

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

I then just left round cube and it updated itself the next time it checked for new emails.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

It happened again yesterday using IE8 which I never usually use. When I hit Inbox five more emails appeared having arrived during the last 70 minutes. The numbers top left and bottom right both incremented five. See screenshots.
This evening using FF13 I was looking at the "Inbox" wording. When it opened the figure of unread emails was initially 42 - it changed immediately to 36, then when I hit Inbox it changed to 43. The last email had come in about 30 minutes prior.
Since the same sort of issues are occurring on IE8, FF13 and Chrome it can't be anything to do with the choice of browser. It's happening on all three of my machines, two at home and one at work, on a different ISP, and the only common things between all of them is they're all running XPSP3.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

The other common factor is you are logging into Roundcube  Wink , but apart from that -
Well I think I need to go to specsavers as I can't see a 43 anywhere on either of those screen shots. What I can see is the total number of unread mails in the Inbox is 35 in the first shot and 40 is the 2nd shot an increase (as you've mentioned) of 5 messages. Looking at the listing there are indeed 5 more messages at the top of the list in the 2nd shot. Also the count of total messages in the Inbox (bottom right) has gone form 42 to 47, an increment of 5 (as you've mentioned), so all that seems consistent.
I hope you aren't confusing the number of messages in the bottom right hand corner as unread, they are just the total in the Inbox.
The other observation is that you have a number of additional folders created. Do you move messages into these folders manually when you log into webmail or do you imap from a client where you move them, or there are rules set up in the client to move them?

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

Please reread what I wrote. The screenshots were from YESTERDAY using IE8 - the 43 from TODAY using FF13.
The folders are only used in webmail - I POP3 download.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

Well I'm sorry I mis-read that, perhaps providing today's screen shots might have helped, I assumed they were today's that you were talking about.
Anyway, I've run out of ideas as to what's going on.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

I couldn't provide today's in full because it flashed up 42 for less than a second before going to 36 - just enough time for it to be seen.
It's pointless providing screenshots of every instance.
I've already demonstrated that this is a cross platform problem, I'm surprised so few people seem to have noticed it, and equally surprised Plusnet themselves don't really recognise it as a bug in their software.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

It's not "technically" Plusnet's. it's Roundcube's. I expect the reason Plusnet aren't "recognising it as a bug" is because, as me, they can't reproduce it. As you've stated, so very few people here seem to have this problem. Perhaps a visit to Roundcube support and see if anyone else using Roundcube is seeing a similar problem, there is a forum you could use.

I expect many people don't know they haven't got an email they weren't expecting, and when it does arrive they don't notice the "delay".
I see this problem most days as Play send out "deal of the day" emails at about 6am and they generally don't appear in the list when I look around mid-day until I refresh the inbox. I think it only happens if it's the most recent one received.
Not a major problem, but disappointing that no-one seems to want to fix it.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

I agree it's not a major problem in that it's rectified by hitting the Inbox button - however this seems to be a basic inherrent fault which shouldn't really be happening in the first place.
Tonight I was poised and ready to hit the screengrab button as soon as I'd pressed the login button. Hence there are three screenshots - the initial one showing 48 - before the mailbox had loaded, the steady state initial load when it dropped immediately to 40, and the refreshed list when it went up to 56.

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

A slight variation.  Fired up roundcube. It displayed inbox(20) right away (and 1 to 20 of 20 in status bar).
Clicked on check for new messages.  Inbox total up to 48 but status bar stil says 1 to 20 of 20.  Huh

Re: RoundCube not showing full contents of email inbox

Why do you use POP3 rather than IMAP?
In your POP3 settings do you have the option to leave messages on the server set and if so for how long?
