No, but maybe yes!
Metronet is was only port 25 (the SUs had a query on this), but having just run a test, port 587 is listening. However that service does not support encryption.

My metronet email is also down again. I raised a ticket with support and went all through the failure modes that we did 3 weeks ago but all they put on the ticket was that they did not support third party clients and I would have to contact the supplier as policy. Now we know that the problem was not with the client as PlusnetTony(staff) eventualy fixed the problem although we wernt told what! Without making any changes the mail returned after Tony fixed it. Support is incorrectly entering support tickets in sutch a way that they are not being escelated . this I assume means that it does not get counted towards failures or complains in offcom. Can you please escalate to Tony ticket 247168539 .

There is an escalation on POP3. IMAP is fine.

You need to set the client connection up again as IMAP. Switching is untidy ... unless you know what you are doing, do not do it!
POP3 is archaic and depending on the client app, having both POP3 and IMAP on the same app can be problematic to impossible. For the interim, use webmail.

Note the correct server settings for Metronet...
Brand: Metronet - encryption supported: No
- IMAP: imap.metronet.co.uk port: 143
- POP3: mail.metronet.co.uk port: 110
- SMTP: smtp.metronet.co.uk port: 587
Your screen shot has the wrong server for POP3 ... though that might not be the only problem.

Are you using your email address as the username? If not, try it.

Pls note that I am not techie! ... but been following this thread having had isses with both receiving and sending metronet emails on my laptop (using Thunderbird). The receiving issue was resolved when I changed my user name adding @metronet.co.uk. However, can't fix the sending issue using either Port 587 or 25. The one thing I can see which may be causing problems is that my user name on the SMTP server is still my old user name (ie not including @metronet.co.uk) ... but I can't see how to change that (if it needs changing!). All / any suggestions gratefully received.
For info, I am showing:
Server name: smtp@metronet.co.uk
Connection security: None
Authentication method: No authentication
For further info:
Throughout I have had no problems receiving and sending e mails on my ipad.

You’ll not be able to change anything if authentication is not selected. When it is select same as inbound server.
Metronet does not support encryption, so port 587 encryption = none.

Thanks, Townman ... can't see green button to confirm "This fixed my problem" but it seems to have done!! Trusty old Metronet / Thunderbird combo seems to be back up and running (for now!).
