Thunderbird password

I have reinstalled win 11 and thunderbird but cannot seem to get the password to work.  I think i need to reset the password, any help appreciated.

Thunderbird does not have a password as such - your email account does, though = is that what you are talking about?

I always keep a written record of important information. Sorry, it is literally years since I messed with my email settings. I'm sure there is a way to reset the password, but I don't recall how.

@MisterW   - can you advise?

Yep I cloned my last two pc swaps and can't remember what it was, have all my others recorded elsewhere, just this one missing!  Doh

should take you to manage your mailboxes 

 

if not it's portal > manage account > manage my mailboxes, at the bottom

You need to click edit on the mailbox you want to change the password for and then you should be presented with the option to change it.

Nope for some reason did send a message to my Hotmail account but wouldn't receive anything.  Plugged my old pc in and it works with all the same settings!!

AAArrgh just replaced profile folder with older one, now received messages but give error message when sending.  I give up.
