email sync issue for inbox only

Hi for some time it hasnt been possible to delete messages using thunderbird from my inbox. Whenever they are deleted they seem to be removed locally but then when thunderbird syncs again the deleted messages reappear in the inbox.

I have recently set up the same account on outlook to see if that makes a difference. Outlook has downloaded all other folders such as sent, junk etc but will not sync with the inbox. In outlook it displays the message 'Error syncronising folder'.  I've also got the same issue with gmail on multiple devices.

This seems to be a sever problem, how do I get someone to check it there doesnt seem to be any way of contacting plusnet with a problem like this?

Webmail also usually fails to access the inbox. I get a message at the top of the screen saying 'Server Error. Failed to send fetch command'.

Re: email sync issue for inbox only

This suggests that there is an item in the inbox with a very large attachment.

In the Outlook server settings, change the server timeout to 2 minutes.

There is another possibility which matches your description (but that would not generate the error) - the IMAP root folder needs to be set to inbox.

I once had a similar issue with a single CORRUPTED email on an IMAP server

I cleared the fault by dragging and dropping inbox messages in Thunderbird to a temporary email-sub-folder, until I isolated the problematic message, then deleted the sub-folder containing the message using webmail.  Then in Thunderbird did a 'Properties' > 'Repair Folder' on the Inbox to make sure that wasn't corrupted.
