new outlook windows 11

Using the information provided by Dan_the_Van I successfully set up my Plus email account on Sunday evening. But since then no new emails have come through other than a test from my son-in-law on Monday afternoon. Can anyone throw a light on why?

Re: new outlook windows 11

Is this configured as IMAP?

In some cases, it is necessary to sent the IMAP ROOT folder - try setting that to inbox

Re: new outlook windows 11

Also, is anything else (even another email client on the same PC) running?  If so could that be configured for POP3 and be removing any emails from the server before you've seen them in Outlook?

Re: new outlook windows 11

Is your suggestion to alter incoming from imap.plus.net to imaproot.plus.net, if so it failed. But what is puzzling how come I initially received all my emails upon getting a green tick late Sunday evening and one test message from my son-in-law late Monday afternoon but nothing else.

Re: new outlook windows 11

@Townman's suggestion was to try setting the "Root folder path" (at least that what it is labelled as in the "older" version of outlook to be "inbox", not change the server address.

Something else worth checking before going too far is that other emails are showing if you log into webmail.

Re: new outlook windows 11

Is there a solution to this?  I have the same problem.

I had to download the wretched 'Outlook for Windows' because I have an email account with Outlook.com which MS witched off, i.e. made not to work in my Office 2019.

After searching on here, I eventually found the settings to also add my Plusnet email.  A few days' emails duly appeared and I thought all was well.  But it won't actually receive any new emails.  I've sent tests from other email accounts and nothing comes through.  But they still come through on my Office 2019 Outlook.  I checked and have always had it configured to leave emails on the server.

I have no idea what is causing this.  I know I can carry on with two Outlooks, the 'old' one for my other email accounts, and the new one purely for my Outlook.com box, but that's a nuisance.  Any help greatl appreciated!

@SkylineUK_Dup are sure that is set to leave emails on the server ?

You can check if they are still on the server using the Plusnet webmail. If they are, then it has to be an Outlook for Windows configuration issue

Re: new outlook windows 11

Yes, they're still there.

In 'old' Outlook I had ticked 'Leave a copy of messages on the server' and 'Remove from server when deleted from Deleted Items'.  'New' Outlook doesn't appear to have a way of specifying this.

Re: new outlook windows 11

@SkylineUK_Dup are you using IMAP or POP on the new Outlook ?

I used IMAP because I couldn't get POP to work.  My settings attached.

Re: new outlook windows 11

They look fine and given that Outlook doesn't seem to be giving any error, is it just a matter that its not displaying the messages.

I'm no fan of, or expert at, Outlook but I have Outlook on my Windows 11 system configured to access one of my Plusnet mailboxes and it seems to work ok

You haven't accidentally got a filter setting ?

Short of that , I can only suggest deleting and recreating  the account in Outlook. That seems to be the most effective solution.

Re: new outlook windows 11

I think it's working....

I tried POP again, and just played with the options permutations.  Attached is what I ended up with.

Tests so for seem ok...but you never know with this blasted 'new' Outlook.

I see they now give you an ad 'email' every now and then, and you can get rid of them altogether by paying £2 a month!  All is now revealed....

Re: new outlook windows 11

TBH I only set it up to try and understand and help with some of the problems we see on here!

I don't (will never!) use it in anger. I use Mozilla Thunderbird on my Windows & Linux systems, and K-9 on Android phones/tablets. They're all set for IMAP and co-exist perfectly. I use my Linux desktop as the 'master' and take local archives of all my email accounts on that since, by implication, IMAP  stores messages on the server.
