Hi, for weeks now, ive not een able to send an email on thunderbird from my plusnet email account, but today i noticed ive not had an email for a week, so i checked in the plusnet web email, and i saw i had 17 emails all unread.
Ive tried to reinstall the email but its showing as this:
Sending of password for user jxxxxxxxxxrt7@hazzardlover.plus.com did not succeed. Mail server mail.plus.net responded: Login failed.
so i then changed the password and tried the web email on the website, it worked fine, back to thunderbird, but still the same login failed
Is there anything plusnet end that would cause this, this is what i use to get when sending an email, it wouldnt send but always came up with login failed, i use to enter the password, but it didnt use to work, once every blue moon it did, but as i said for weeks now, i coul not send an email, now it seems i cant receive messages either
thanks

@hazzardlover There is nothing on 'the Plusnet end' which would cause this - if you can successfully send and receive with your current credentials on webmail, the problem must be in your TB setup somewhere.

I can't see anything wrong there, but am rather concerned that TB is showing 'checking password'. Is this the same pw you have entered on webmail?

I'd suggest using imap.plus.net as the server, port 993 and security ssl/tls
Is this the primary mailbox or secondary ?
For a secondary one the username is accountname+mailboxname

Possibly a misconfigured password - you quite often see what you expect, even if it is wrong, but glad you got it sorted.

I suggest that the problem was you were pointing an IMAP client configuration to the POP3 email server.
- POP3 - mail.plus.net Port 110 (not encrypted) Port 995 (encrypted - SSL/TLS)
- IMAP - imap.plus.net Port 143 (not encrypted) Port 993 (encrypted - SSL/TLS)
- SMTP - relay.plus.net Port 587 not encrypted / encrypted (STARTTLS)
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
