Re: webmail problem

Thanks for getting back to me @leo44

Could you private message me a screenshot showing what you're seeing so I can take a closer look?

Re: webmail problem

You can private message us on Facebook Messenger and we'll pick it up though it's probably easier to private message me via our Community Forums here to keep things in one place. To do that you'll just need to click on my forum username "Gandalf" then you'll see a button that says "Send Private Message"

Re: webmail problem

Apologies if am in the wrong forum page but cannot seem to start a new topic anywhere with my current problem.

Could someone please help me and let me know how I can delete old folders from my online plusnet webmail?  I have tried clicking on the small cog wheel at the bottom of each folder I want to remove but nothing seems to happen.

Also, if I close my online plusnet webmail will I still be able to use my plusnet email account in Outlook?

Many thanks again and sorry if I am in the wrong forum place

Margot

Re: webmail problem

@bainhouse To start a new topic - click the big pink 'New Topic' button at the top of each forum.

If you do not wish to use webmail, you don't really need to delete old folders from it - just make sure they are empty.

You cannot 'close' webmail, that is the bedrock of the mail system, and the place Outlook 'finds' the mail.

How is your Outlook client set up - as IMAP or POP3?

Re: webmail problem

Hi John

thank you for getting back to me so quickly.  There is no a "New Topic" button even when logged in to any of  the Community Forums when I want to post something.  Hence my going to the "reply" button for help!

I am trying to delete the massive amount of old folders from plusnet webmail to tidy things up.

At the moment my Outlook is set up as IMAP  as follows:  OUT:  imap.plus.net with port 993   and IN: relay.plus.net Port 465.

My outlook box keeps loading my old webmail folders and also the same applies to my iphone. I want to get rid of these old folders.    Could it be a synchronization problem?      Any help would be gratefully received as have been trying to sort this out for 2 days now!

Cheers Margot

Re: webmail problem

Hiya Margot. Sorry, still don't get why you don't see what I do at the top of each board:-

Screenshot 2022-02-04 at 16-43-20 Email.png

Im afraid someone else ( @Townman  ?) is probably the people to help you on your clean-up task, as I have always used a client for my mail, so don't know the finer points of webmail - sorry.

I have a feeling you have got your IMAP settings the wrong way round (in your post) as it would never work if really sey up that way. I understand now why you want rid of those extra folders, but  as above, it is not something I feel competent to help with. It is not a synchronisation problem - a client set up under IMAP is designed to fetch all the folders available, whether they have content or not.

Re: webmail problem

That's odd Townman, I don't recall having a problem with my Outlook server settings, when was this?

@leo44

Depending on your forum user settings you might see emails on topics you created and those you’ve commented on. You can turn off email notifications if they irritate you (see user settings) as well as unsubscribing from individual topics as advised above.
