Re: ADSL offers

It must have been as that is what I have, but maybe only for a short while as everyone seems to be offering only 80/20 now. Unfortunately it is all guess work, as no one seems to have the answers and one question seems to raise three more. Sad

Re: ADSL offers

@pvmb

40/10 may have been available at the start of the PN FTTP commercial service but has now been withdrawn as a product offering.

I was on 40/10 as part of the PN FTTP Trial and remained on it until I re-contracted not that long ago - I'm now on 80/20. Funnily enough when I logged into my account I was offered 40/20 as an upgrade to my account - at a price a couple of quid dearer that the 80/20 offering. I phoned in just to check and was told 40/10 had been withdrawn.

Re: ADSL offers

@cbcadmin

I know you're having a bad time with Vodofone but there is simply nothing better that FTTP.

Sign up with a new provider (even at 80/20) and see what speed you get. If it's below expected then it's up to OpenReach to fix things.

Given you're in a Fibre Priority Area it's unlikely that OR will sanction a move to either ADSL or FTTC.

Re: ADSL offers

I am not looking to better fibre, just get a useable service at a fair price. Vodafone initially said the problem must be the router, but didn't offer to replace it, just sell me boosters or upgrade my basic package at extra cost! Surely it is up to the company I pay to sort things out? I know Openreach are the installers but the customer has no contact with them.

Re: ADSL offers

Quite possible; just annoying there is nothing saying this which leaves customers with a bad taste in their mouths being offered a product only to be told younhave to paybextra as that isn't offered.

Re: ADSL offers

I hate "being pushed into a corner"! I've put out feelers to A&A to see if they can resolve My FTTP problem and Bitstreme to see what service they can offer. Ebay has provided A refurbish ZTE MF286D router and Three are sending me a SIM so I can test it before I commit to a contract. If nothing else it will be a good backup.

Did Aquiss give a reason for the refusal ?

I assumed that you have BT Wholesale's FTTP line that Vodafone provide your broadband service on ?

or have you got an actual Vodafone optical fibre running to your home ?

I wonder what Aquiss would do if you just ordered a NEW FTTP service, rather than a 'take over' ?

😕

Re: ADSL offers

No, no reason given. Lots of speculation in other forums/threads, but I guess they just didn’t like my honesty?

Yes BT line, Openreach install and I pay Vodafone.

I have no idea and don’t wish to speculate. There has been far too much of that already. I just wish people would be honest.

Fix

I have not read all the background but the talk of boosters suggests that you are having a wireless problem?

If this is the case I can't see how a presumably solid FTTP connection to the router being replaced by a potentially flaky wireless mobile connection will help.

Surely if the problem is the FTTP connection to the router then that is that which should be addressed, be it needing a change to an ISP with better customer services?

Once you have that solid connetion then wireless distribution is a different issue altogether that will persist regardless of how you get the Internet to the property.

Re: ADSL offers

The problem is UL speed - https://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/1689723622442763955 I'd love to replace my FTTP connection with the old ADSL one, but unfortunately that is no longer available, so I thought I would try wireless. Not only is ADSl not available but it also looks like fibre is being restricted to 80/20 and the price hiked to cover this. Better customer service is, I think, like ADSL, a thing of the past. Sad Aquiss actually rejected my order despite folk claiming they had good customer service. What I don't understand, given that folk are blaming wifi for the problem, is that DL is fine but UL is only about a third of what it should be. What is the point of Wireless routers if they can't handle WiFi? Or rather can handle DL, but not UL? My Plusnet ADSL connection two years ago was almost as fast as my current Vodafone FTTP one!

So ADSL is no longer considered BB?

Re: ADSL offers

@cbcadmin

We need to start again here.

First of all we need to determine whether this is an external problem or a wireless one. Have you got a computer that you can connect to your router via an Ethernet cable? If this is reporting you full contracted speed then we know where to look for your problem.

Incidentally your currently reported 3Mbps upload speed is three times that possible with ADSL.

When Openreach declare that they will only supply FTTP then that is it, there's no alternative from the BT infrastructure. There's no point is thinking any more about the long. long, obsolete ADSL service.

FTTP is the reliable answer to your problem, we just need to get a better understanding of what the current issue is that needs addressing.

Re: ADSL offers

@Baldrick1  The latest evidence from the TBB forum is that the OP has never done any speed tests with a wired connection to the router.😫 They have generally been carried out on Ipads over wi-fi. In one thread there is a recent BTW speedtest using an Iphone

https://thumbsnap.com/fJMCNRSE  Which suggests that the Vodafone FTTP speed is perfectly OK (it's a 40/10 service)

The TBB ping monitor also looks pretty good

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/e0b460973b6eb81d6a65806bc5a899ef3c...

So much effort by many people trying to help on various forum sites, all a waste of time, words fail me.☹️
